Well, the rain curtailed our plans to go to DHS tonight so we are sticking around BC and having dinner at Cape May again. My husband and daughter loved the crab legs when we were here on Saturday.

Our oldest daughter stayed back in the room tonight...she's feeling a little sick...so maybe it's a good thing we are sticking nearby.

You got in ok? I tried to switch an ADR and they appeared full

Hope she feels better

After swimming in SAB until almost 6:00, my daughter just wanted to eat the appetizers in the lounge for dinner. Good choice as the rain was really coming down. Cape May would have been a good choice too. Looked around at the pool to see if I could figure out if any of the guests were you! LOL If you see a woman in a black and white swimming suit shirt and a blonde girl with short hair and a pink and white swim shirt, shout hello!!

I am sorry if this was asked and answer already. I tried to search but I am so far behind on reading. For those that are at BC now, do you have a fridge in your room? I have been getting very mixed responses regarding the fridge situation. They may be replaced quickly, they may not. I am just hoping they are in the rooms for our trip at the end of August. Thanks for your help!

Quick question -

I saw on another thread that someone checked in at the Villas for their BCV stay. I've never seen this as check-in has always been at the BC. Anyone else have to check-in at the Villas for their DVC stay? Is it something they are trying out in the summer?

The only check in for the BCVs is in the BC. You have to check in at the same counter for both resorts. No one is in the lobby of the villas. There is only furniture in there.

ETA: I guess the have a CM at a desk in the villas lobby now.

We just got back and had a frig in our room.

48 hours from now, my wife and I will be enjoying a lovely dinner at Boma as we begin our week long adventure to our happy place. We'll be at the BC on the 24th, stop by and say hi! I'll be the guy in navy blue swim trunks going down the slide a hundred times with my nephew!

You don't check in at the Villas. However, they are trying out a new procedure. If you do an on-line check-in and your room is ready, a CM will walk you over to the Villas and check you in with a laptop.

There used to be a tram that ran from the International Gateway to the Swan and Dolphin. Did it stop at YC/BC?

I remember when they were first building the Epcot resorts they used to have a tram tour that would take people from the International Gateway to the proposed resort area. I don't remember much except a lot of signs with pictures of what the resorts would look like.

They may have run trams in the early days, but I don't think there are any now. There used to be an area on the resort side of the International Gateway that looked like it was built to handle trams. I'm not sure if they have taken it out yet, but it never really got used.

Thanks. That's how it's always been for us too, but it looks like they are trying something new. Sounds interesting...

There is a video on YouTube from 1992 (pre boardwalk) showing the tram, but it bangs a left instead of going straight to BC. I did not know if it ran another route

We are sitting in the Solarium watching Ratatouille while waiting for my laundry to finish. Here's what Amy and I are drinking....

We had a 35 minute wait as walk-ups at Cape May. Dinner was delicious as always! Thankfully, out oldest daughter is feeling better...she ate a sandwich from the Marketplace after we got back from dinner. She slept the entire afternoon. Poor kid!

Glad to hear your daughter is feeling better! It was great seeing you for a quick hello tonight. I hope we'll have time to catch up on Sunday or Monday! Our dinner at the Captain's Grill was wonderful! I had the chicken (so moist) and corn risotto. Yum!

Kind of an off topic question....This will be only my 2nd trip to WDW ever coming up in October. Since I have been following the Disboards, I have noticed most people go quite frequently. I want to be one of those people. Lol

So.... How often do you go? Have you always travelled like that or is it more as kids get older/grown? Do you have a vacation other spots as well or just mainly Disney?

Thanks!!! :-)

First,. Second, a little background. My dad loves Disney. He introduced me to Minnie Mouse at Disneyland when I was two years old and he inspired my love of all things Disney - especially "Epcot Center" and the "Polynesian Village." (Although he became a BC fan when I was in college and we stayed there for the first time in 1992!)

We usually average two WDW visits per year and one DL visit per year. And we've done two Disney Cruises - Dream in 2011 and Wonder to Alaska in 2012. Our kids are ages 6, 13 and 14 and they all absolutely love Disney. Even our teens still rank WDW as their #1 vacation destination, even though they've had lots of different experiences. We vacation in southern California annually, and fit a day or two at DL while we're there. My parents have a condo in Florida, so we can stop by WDW when we visit them. In other words, we often combine Disney with something else.

Why? Part my own nostalgia, part the fact that our boys love it so much and it's a good fit for our family right now, and part brand loyalty - it's hard to find anything more organized and customer-service oriented than Disney. (Although I do like the Kimpton hotel brand!)

But overall, we travel relatively frequently, so it's really a mix of Disney and other places. Over the past several years, in addition to local weekends away, we've been to San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Newport Beach (every year), Park City Utah, Phoenix, Napa (w/o kids), Whistler, Vancouver, Victoria, Ann Arbor, Monterrey, Santa Barbara, Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau, Asheville, Washington D.C. (several times - I grew up there), Boston, Savannah, Vero Beach, Clearwater, Williamsburg, and Mexico. I make that list to remind those who think we only go to Disney that that's not really the case. :) But I guess those people are not reading this, so it doesn't matter!

But growing up, it was pretty much Disney and Newport Beach, California for me, and I wouldn't trade those experiences with my family for anything. (Thank you, Mom and Dad!!!) My parents had demanding professions and the primary purpose of vacations was to relax with their kids - not necessarily to go a different place every time. Either way - new places or not - it's about that time with your family.

Shakes head :sad2: That Nannette is a BAD INFLUENCE on you! Just be aware she tried to rope me in to a tour entitled "The Ladies rooms of Walt Disney World!!" but I wasn't buying! I'm not taking that "Hidden Dumpsters of Hollywood Studios" either Buzzy! :crazy2:
Some of my trips don't involve dragging the family down (GIRLS TRIPS :cool1: :woohoo: ) ~NM

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl: :thumbsup2

I think I'm in trouble!!

Yeah, you're right.... I should just leave the holes in my granny panties and tell everyone I'm rockin a thong.

BIG trouble!!

Yep I checked in at BC and then was walked over to the villa's by a very nice CM I might add! I've never been over there before, but there was a desk there with a CM there all day... not sure if this is normal or not. I know when I stayed at BLT in April I could check in at BLT and not just Contemporary, so maybe they are going that way.

Here is a link to a podcast I did describing my Disney journey.

My Disney fascination started out innocent enough. Now I am a full blown DVC, AP, Mickey loving junkie. For many of the same reason pixarmom so eloquently described.

And BC is my home but I also spend time at the other resorts. I just love the way Disney 'does it'
