I have arrived at MCO Sitting on the ME waiting to depart. The bus is pretty much empty. Awesome the driver just got on and said let's get out of here before they fill us up! My kind of driver! Next stop BC/YC!

Thanks for keeping this thread going - I'm getting so much great info leading up to our first YC visit in Nov!

Sad to see that Peter Pan and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground will likely be closed when we visit - I was hoping to let DD run off lots of energy at DHS at that playground!!

Thank You!!! She is super excited. Up at 6:00 a.m. (of course that was only because of soccer practice :lmao:), with a HUGE smile on her face!!!

What view have you booked (Standard, Garden, Water)?

What is important to your family?
Location- Near Lobby/SAB/Transportation? Away from Elevators?
Daybed?

We are Club Level Garden View
Nearest to SAB and Transportation I guess, if possible. Or maybe best to walk to parks??
We dont really need a daybed as long as there are 2 Queens, its just MH, my son (3) and I.

What fun to see all the Princess Half marathon participants here! princess:

2014 will be my 5th PHM....I didn't do the first one, but have done every one since! It is fun and there are runners/walkers of a range of speeds/abilities.

It is a super fun weekend...be sure to save some money to spend at the expo!

Happy training! I'll be training around the BC/YC area next week!

Weird...
So 2014 packages have come out.
For comparison purposes, I priced out 6 nights at BC (no tickets)...for the 3rd week of August this year...
Then priced out 6 nights at BC (again, no tickets) for the 3rd week of August in 2014......Same days (Sunday-Saturday)...and it came out $29 CHEAPER next year.

Really?

I'm registered for the Princess Half Marathon!!!!

I'm excited, scared, freaking out, but mostly very happy. Lots of training to do to get ready, but I've got lots of lead time (8 months). I'm also going on my own - very tough decision. DH and I agreed that having the kids there would make it tough to get the rest I'll need pre and post race, so a solo trip it is. Never thought I'd do Disney without the family! There is a chance that one of my best friends may join me. And if she is, I may consider getting a room at BC. I just can't justify it on my own, especially when we'll have just been there in October, but if it's split two ways...? That might work. It honestly would be so nice to be able to walk back for a restful afternoon at BC after the race is done. If my legs will be able to carry me there by then. :D

Wow - so excited for you, laura!!!! Please promise to report on your progress and your race either here or on another board (and provide link!) I see it's at 87% full now, and still no green light from my husband to register. He has no problem with my trip planning - just a bit Disney resistant at this point - please wish me luck! Any advice, Ninja?

Yo!! :wave2:

I won't even mention my upcoming trip to the Poly that I'm super excited about! :beach: Yes I am a traitor!!! But I'm still coming over to HH for a Sunken Treasure! ::yes::

No No....Not a traitor. We all have our 'other' resorts at WDW. I love the Lodges and visit them when we can. It's just that BC is home!

Erika, definitely mention your Poly stay! I'm with Mickey T - there are no traitors! My "other" resorts are BWI and Poly, but BC will always be home. :)

We (my sisters, BIL's, wife and I) have done the January half for the last five years. I'll even go so far as say there is a lot of latitude with the 16 minute mile. The sweepers at the end do not begin until the last runner crosses the starting lines so that gives you extra sponge time. And trust me. Us guys at the back are not "runners'. Waddlers may be more appropriate.

:rotfl2: Except I can't do Jeff Galloway style - must keep running, or I hit a wall!

In true NM fashion I refused to give up my summer and requested that the surgery be put off until late August! The request was fortunately approved!

For those of you heading to the BC/YC and you are worried about the rain...
~NM

Ninja, so glad your request was approved - enjoy the sunshine and your summer! And I'll second the flip flop advice - only flip flops for me in the parks during the summer months - Reef Ginger are super comfy and dry very fast!

Sounds like "close to lobby" or "close to lounge" might be a good request for your location, but the good news is that nothing is too far away!

For club level you are on the top floor so really they don't have rooms that are closer to SAB or transportation, the only room that would do that for you would be "close to elevator". Have a great trip! :)

WE ARE BOOKED!!! YAHOO!!!:cool1:
Officially staying Beach Club Garden View January 9th through 12th! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

I've been at various WDW resorts before during "hard" refurb and typically they just do one hallway at a time. Luckily my room has never been directly under or near a refurb going on, but I know they do all hammering and drilling during daytime hours when most people are in the parks. I've also been in resorts undergoing extensive exterior work and they always try to keep the disruption minimal. I always tell people if you think you're going to be really sensitive to these types of issues then just move your resort. But for me these kinds of things don't bother me. I'm always glad to see updates going on. :)

Hello all! I am new to this thread as I have just booked a last minute, adults only trip for me and my DH!!

I have always thought about staying here but with the kids and my mom, it is easier to stay at CR. DH isn't really a Disney fan...GASP! I know! But I thought with just the two of us doing more adult things, this resort is the perfect choice! This thread and the pic thread really helped clinch the deal!

We will be checking in August 15th!!! SO excited!

We were at the Disneyland hotel for 5 nights in Sept. 2009 during a major renovation. I was a bit concerned about noise, etc. before we got there. We stayed in what was then the dreams tower and half of it was closed off for the renovations. All of the rooms had Juliette balconies and they were removing these and replacing them with windows that do not open, etc. They were completely redoing the bathrooms and replacing carpets and furniture. I was really surprised that we never heard any noise or have any disruptions. The only place that you could hear noise and see the work being done was at the pool because it was right under the area where they were working. I think that they did a really good job of minimizing the noise, etc. to those of us staying there.

Thanks all for the room advice! I guess my only other question is then, is there a a CL Garden view room w/ a "best" view that I should try for? Thanks!

For those more experienced staying at the YC/BC area, is there a walkway behind the Swan to get to Fantasia Gardens MiniGolf? From the picture there is a road between the two but I cannot tell if it is a highway that cannot be crossed on foot. It appears there is something to the left of Fantasia Gardens that crosses this road. We are staying at BCV for the first time in October and thought we might try this one afternoon. TIA for your help.

Welcome to thread!!! Dee is putting in a few work hours today, but I know she will be around later to give you the official welcome:thumbsup2

You will love the resort.....and I think it will be perfect for an adult only trip.

It's not a highway, it's just a road. I don't remember if there is a sidewalk but I definitely remember walking there. We use to use those free golf vouchers all the time years ago. It is very close to the Swan, even closer than it appears on this map. :thumbsup2

Someone just posted about Fridge issues at resorts? Saying they will be temporarily turned off and removed (will take 4 months to replace). Has this happened at BC yet???

I need to cancel my Garden Grocer order if it has.....no need for water bottles if I can't keep them cold.
