So we arrived at the Polynesian resort. I think it's really pretty there.
I wasn't very sure where there was to go there, so we checked in at 'Ohana 40 mins early. I just assumed we'd get drinks at the lounge.
Well I didn't want to order a drink because I wanted a Lapu Lapu and I didn't wanna lug a giant pineapple around. Eric tried to convince me I would drink the whole thing before it was even time for our reservation (which he would have been right), but I still didn't order a drink. He didn't order one either, I wanted him to get a Backscratcher, but I'm not sure why he didn't order a drink.
They were taking still taking walkups, if anyone was wondering. Anyways, at about 6:15 (our ADRs were for 6:30) many families had checked in and then been escorted to their table in 'Ohana; while we were still sitting there waiting (now I understand that perhaps they had ADRs at that time, so I'm not mad, I'm just commenting). Anyways, 6:30 rolls around, nothing. A little bit after, there is barely anyone sitting in the waiting areas besides Eric and I. More families check in and are seated immediately. So at 6:45 I go up and ask what is happening and when we would be seated (I was nice, not rude like on the Haunted Mansion) and he looked at the list and said we would be next. OK I think, can't be that long. But three more families come check in and are seated (again, immediately). Well finally we are brought to our table. We were sat up towards the windows with a view of the Magic Kingdom. I thought to myself, well maybe they saw our congrats buttons and wanted to give us a seat with a view.
Anyways, our waiter comes and we order our drinks, a Lapu Lapu for me and a Backscratcher for Eric. He brings them to us.
The Lapu Lapu was good, nice and sweet. And I loved how it was served in a pineapple (Eric ended up trying to scrape some of the pineapple off from the inside of it). The Backscratcher, well I really had high hopes for this, but it was just YUCKY! I'm sorry to all you Backscratcher lovers out there. It was weird for us. I don't know what it was about it, but it just tasted like drinking straight up alcohol. And, I mean don't take this the wrong way, but Eric and I are shooters (we drink shot for shot), but I dunno this just wasn't our thing.
Anyways on to the food!
The salad was yummy! It was really good, we actually ate a lot of it. I'm not quite sure how to feel about the won ton crisp thingies. Alone they kind of weirded me out, but tasted pretty decent in the dipping sauces. I was surprised I actually liked the peanut sauce (I love peanuts and what not, but I had like thai food or something where they cook with peanuts and it made me sick), the red sauce was pretty good also. The other sauce was just plain, didn't have much flavor to me.
Yeah I started to forget to take pictures of food before we started eating! I'm sorry! Anyways, I didn't like the shrimp! I'm not much of a seafood, fish, etc type of person. The wings were like Christmas. Seriously though, when I ate them all sort of Christmas memories flooded my brain. They were amasing! Probably my favorite food of the whole trip. The veggies were just veggies nothing special. The potatoes were also amasing. Man oh man!
The turkey didn't have much flavor, but I loved the pork (and I truely am not a pork person) and the sausage. The steak was also good.
I wasn't a big fan of the bread pudding itself, but I loved the ice cream and the bananas foster sauce. They were good all together. I ate most of the dessert myself, because Eric was feeling sick. It was a cross between the cold of the restaurant and the Backscratcher. Total cost of the meal $64.72 and drinks were $28 (including a tip).
I decided we'd take the boat back the the Magic Kingdom so I could show Eric the volcano pool which looked really cool in pictures. He liked it.
Just as we got to the dock it started to sprinkle. No biggy, ya know just sprinkling. So we wait for our boat to come to take us back to the Magic Kingdom.
We arrive back at the Magic Kingdom and it's pouring. I talked Eric into wearing his poncho to help prevent him from getting extremely wet, which would lead to him getting very cold when we were on a ride or in a shop. We ran over and got out Extra Magic Hour bracelets. We get underneath the train station and wait until SpectroMagic was over. Many people left after it was over. I asked Eric if there was anything he want to ride again since we had road all the rides I wanted to and there was plenty of time left in the day. He said no. I said I wanted to ride the Haunted Mansion again so we headed off that way. We walked through the Emporium since it's very long and we could stay a little more dry in their. There were a lot of people in there, but it wasn't packed. You could walk around easily.
We went on the Haunted Mansion then I asked him if he wanted to ride anything again. No, he says. So I decided we'd try to find a drier spot to watch Wishes. By this time it was only sprinkling again.
When we got to Tomorrowland, I started to feel funny, either sick or tired, or dehydrated. I had to buy a water so I went to Cosmic Rays and got me a bottle. I can't remember exactly how much it was since I used a snack credit for it and I was more into guzzling the thing, but I think it was about $2.50. After getting to Tomorrowland, I decided that it wasn't the best place to watch Wishes and we should head towards the front entrance and go up to the train station and watch from there, or watch from under the train station. Well Wishes started just as we were crossing the bridge from Tomorrowland to Main Street. I found a nice spot on Main Street where there wasn't that many people and we stood there. It was barely raining anymore. I took out my camera and took a couple pictures to see how the fireworks option worked.
Eric kept complaining about how his legs were tired and he didn't feel good and wanted to go back to the hotel. I said after Wishes (thank god I did or we would have not watched any fireworks). Anyways, after it was over we headed out.
