I'm Getting Married February 28 2004. I'm a huge Disney nut and wife accepts that. We are talking about our honeymoon of course DISNEYWORLD and the wife is ok with that. (BUT) She really wants to go on a cruse I have looked at the 3 day cruise with 4 days at the park. I'm the type of person that has to be doing something I can't just sit around. What do you do while on a cruise! A few years ago a bunch of friends were going on a cruise and begged me to go I almost did but backed out at the last minute. When they got back each one of them said we wished you were there but you would have hated it and you would be miserable just sitting around. You have to pay for everything extra like the different trips ect. What is there to do on the Disney Cruise that you don't have to pay for? Do you have to pay for food nothing I have ever read says food is included How much?. I know booze is extra we are not big drinkers. Do you have to pay for like Coke, Ice Tea? Is it true there is a no Tee-Shirt, Shorts policy for dinner, Even in Disney you can dress as you want to in any of the restaurant. I kinda want to go but not be miserable. Help me out. What is there to do beside sit by the pool, swim and spend time practice making a little souvenir (lol lol lol). I know she would be very happy on a cruise and i don't want to be a grouch for three days on a boat. I know your not at sea the whole time and that there day trips but all the little things are extra. boating, snorkling ect you have to pay for. I get my ticket to the park and thats it nothing else to buy. can anybody sell me on a cruise.

I don't know if I can sell you on the cruise, I'm sure there are people who frequent these boards that will be better equipped than I since I've only been on one cruise. :)

But here's goes anyway -

There are a lot of activities to do on board besides swimming and trying to create your own souvenir. :) LOL My DH and I were married at WDW October 2001 and then took a cruise on the Wonder last year for our anniversary.

When we weren't relaxing by the pool, we went to the shows, the movies, the clubs at night, the spa, the ESPN club, things we might do on a date around town...but much better. :) We're always on the go when we're home, so the opporunity to relax was a welcome one for us...and we just did the cruise, we didn't do the land and sea package.

As for excursions...you can always get off the ship and not do any excursions if price is a factor. We took one excursion which we thought was well worth the money, it was $42 each - so $84 for both of us to do the Catamaran sail and snorkel adventure. It was when we were at Nassau. We met up around 8:30am and didn't get back the ship until around noon. It was a blast. :)

As for costs on board regarding food - all the food even room service IS included. The only extra costs are for soda's and alcoholic drinks. And SODA'S ARE INCLUDED AT DINNER...which is very nice since I don't drink soda that much anyway...I was able to enjoy water and lemonade all day through the beverage station or room service.

Request a cruise video from Disney on their website, the first time I watched it I was hooked. And now that I've sailed, I'm definitly hooked...we're going on a 7-night this October with some friends.

It's really up to you how much you do or don't do. My DH and I opted not to participate in a lot of the activities just because we want to relax and make our own souvenir(which wasn't successful :( ).

Hope that was helpful. :) Congratulations on the wedding!

If you think at WDW that all you do is buy your ticket and your done, your are mistaken.....WDW is much more likely to add costs to your trip than the cruise. At WDW every meal is extra, and we know how much they charge for even fast food!!!

The cruise is a better value, money wise....it can be as relaxing or busy as you make it. Do you like golf, learning about Disney animation, learning how Disney puts on a production show at sea, learning how to cook, or wine tasting....do you like to play shuffle board, ping pong, basketball, try out a new Segway transportation vehicle, play arcade gagmes, compete in Disney Trivia, compete in name that tune type shows, be a contestant in Match Your Mate with your bride (they are always looking for newlywed couples), drink beer, drink beautiful tropical drinks, dance at wonderful deck parties, swim, see first run moves, see three stage production shows, enjoy unlimited food at three main restaurants, enjoy 24 hour room service (craving a BLT at 3:00 am....no problem!!). Not to mention the chance to be at Disney's Private Island Paradise, Castaway Cay!!!!

These are all things you can experience on the Disney Cruise. I bet if you do the 3 or 4 you would have wished you did the 7 day instead. Especially since you love Disney, you would love all the hidden Mickey's onboard and all the wonderful Disney theming.

Go for it...you will not be bored!!!

check out www.dcltribute.com and look for NAVIGATORS (a daily newletter delivered to your cabin). You can look at Navigators from recent cruises to see what exactly is offered each day on the cruise.

Hi greenhornet.

I'm Getting Married February 28 2004.

Congratulations!

I'm a huge Disney nut and wife accepts that.

Is this your present wife or the fiancee you're marrying next year?

What do you do while on a cruise!

If you are asking what to do on your HONEYMOON cruise, then perhaps you should have a talk with your dad...

Ok, all joking not aside, the list is as endless and varied as your preferences and interests. Several web sites, such as Barb & Tony or Dave, have recent Navigators posted so you can look at the host of scheduled activities for the length of cruise you intend to take.

Oh yes, and in the kids' club my son made a wonderful souvenier -a mousepad with his picture in it. It is both nice and practical. I didn't get to make one because I was too busy enjoying all of the other activities to spend much time in the Oceaneers Club. lol.

Go on the cruise - aside from dressing up for dinner you'll have a great time!

Is it true there is a no Tee-Shirt, Shorts policy for dinner, Even in Disney you can dress as you want to in any of the restaurant.

Shorts and T-shirts are fine for breakfast and lunch, but if you want dinner in the main dining rooms, it is resort casual, usually slacks/dockers and a collared shirt for men. I look at it this way, a cruise is more comperable to going to a nice resort rather than WDW. You wouldn't wear shorts and a T-shirt at a fancy resort at a 4 course meal would you?

If you don't want to dress up, yu can always eat dinner at topsiders or room service.

That is exactly what I thought when I first read the post Buckaroo's Dad...going on his honeymoon and doesn't know what he'll do?

And yes when you do leave your stateroom - wink wink, there are lots of activities that you can choose to do or not.

Actually, there are restaurants at Disney where they ask you to dress more formal. Victoria and Albert's is one. Although, I would agree that most are casual.

As far as selling you on the cruise...

You're a self-described Disney nut? That's all you need. Disney has done an outstanding job of creating an environment that has something for everyone. You won't be dissapointed in the least!

You have all been a huge help we are going to take the 4 day cruise. I am very happy with the decision of going but if for some reason I don't have a good time I'm Going to make all of your car stereos play "It's a small world" 24 hours a day " LOL LOL LOL we did look at the navagators and ordered the Video Thank you all very much again for all you input.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and deciding to take the cruise!!! I think you will have a great time. I didn't see anyone post this web site and it is a great site for information. Barb and Tony have gone on many Disney cruises with many more planned in the future. On their web site www.castawayclub.com they not only post the navigators, pictures of the rooms, and menus, but they also put up trip reports in which they tell all the many things they do while on board. Well, maybe not all the things they do. ;)
