Don't know what to do!!!! Member Cruise!!!!!

I am really frustrated with this! Do they really think we will be happy with no deal...but wait...we get an extra day at CC. So???? I would love two days there, but in essence that only makes them MORE money! Where do we save on this?? Where is the benefit of being a DVC member and cruising??
Just a thought!

Kamy:rolleyes:

Looks like we won't be going on this one.
I was excited with all the preliminaries, but having more detail now, I think we'll stick with our original plan for the 7 night Western on 10-11-03.
Actually, I was hoping we could do both, but with an April use year, our points for this one would be more limited following our OKW stay in Dec/Jan.
Also, pulling our DS9 from school for vacation is frowned on by the school board here. Unexcused absences, etc. I'm already having twinges of guilt over the four days he'll miss in 10/03, but I figure with the 7 night Western, we could at least lend an educational slant to the excursions we choose.
;)

Will be anxious to hear about the trip from those who are going. Enjoy!

I spoke to member services this morning and was told the point scedule should be on their website today. But she did fill me in on a couple of catagories and I was really disapointed in the cost.

Catagorie 10 Adult, 1st and 2nd- 96 points or $813.00
3rd and 4th- 49 points or $377.00

Catagorie 11 Adult, 1st and 2nd- 88 points or $760
3rd and 4th- 49 points or $377

It seems like Disney would have made it less points than more than the normal 2003 schedule. It should cost less since the ship will be at CC two days. Plus, they will make more money on CC with all of the rentals and drinks for two days, rather than being at sea or Freeport. Makes no sense to me. We will be sitting this one out and using our points on a "regular" cruise. Anyone else?

I called this morning and asked what would be the difference. Other than the extra day there are none yet other than the extra day but the person implied that we should expect member events since it is a DVC only cruise.

Why would anyone do this? It seems ridiculous. When I first looked at the point chart I thought I was looking at the wrong thing.

Since I already have my secret porthole room reserved for the next week 2/9 for less points or money if paying cash, will stay on that 4 day cruise and go to Freeport. Plus now my DH can still do his Daytona race.

For those interested, the trip is $698 per person for the 1st two if paying cash. It is 91 points per person.

I just checked out the current details on the Members web site and it is very dissapointing to see that they are not only NOT offering us a discounted rate for all catagories, they are not even offering a ship board credit. THe Anniversary Cruise last April was a great deal at the spur of the monment and my wife and I took advantage of it but that cruise was not just for DVC members. I think that DCL had lost so many bookings since 9/11 that they just wanted to fill the ship so they got together with DVC and put a package together that would attract lots of members.

This cruise is for "Members Only" and they are going to make us pay!
We are booked for the 5/4/02 cruise for less points so it makes no sense to try and do this cruise.

If they do not get enough interest in the cruise DCL & DVC will scramble to revise the package and make it more attractive.

DON'T CALL TO BOOK THE CRUISE!

:) :) :)

Agree with all the other angry posters! Why would Disney think that DVC members would pay MORE for a members only cruise, just because you spend an extra day at CC. If they were really interested in filling up the ship, they'd offer 1/2 off regular points, and make up the rest by all the extras that cruisers spring for.

I'm totally offended by this offer, and plan on voicing my displeasure to DVC.

This is a serious rip off. I won't be going. The cruises are already too high, and now they want more? I don't think so...

I hope nobody books.

Wow! $813. for Cat. 10 on a 4 day cruise with 2 days at CC. I've cruised the end of Jan. and the water on CC was cold. We're going Oct 26, for 7 night Cat. 10 "Secret Porthole" and it's only costing us $749. for the first two adults. They must think we're really gullible. Next thing they'll be trying to sell us a big bridge in New York.

Wonder what kind of deal Carnival Cruise Line would give to all the DVC members for the same sailing date. Wouldn't that get Disney's attention.

Questions, if they are opening Cat. 3 and 12 to this offering who's getting Cat. 1 and 2 if this cruise is only for DVC members??? Will they be for cash paying cruiser only?

I think we should all voice our disaproval to dvc member services. Maybe they will listen, and revamp the point and cash schedule. We wanted to take a cruise with our non dvc friends, but I am not asking them to pay $800 and up for the Feb. 2nd cruise, when two weeks before its much, much lower. That is outrageous thinking on disney's part to price the cruise so high during value season. I hope everyone boycotts!! I'll wait and go when it is more cash affordable for everyone. They want to punish dvc members, when we are the ones going several times a year to WDW and spending all of our money in the parks, restaurants, etc. They should be discounting the cruise, not upping the cost!!

Help me here - why would Disney offer it's best customers only a marginal deal at best? Go figure!

Great question goofydadeo! I wondered the same thing when they offered that very lame ticket option (the one that they said would be great for DVC owners that turned out to be a joke) for it's best customers also. Go figure!
