Don't know if y'all are interested but

The other thread was closed for personal attacks. Let's not slip into that please. We have new members who come to this site for planning. Many have been to Disney numerous times but are new to Universal. When they read bashing threads like this one has become, they may think that we are not a very friendly group. Our goal is not to bash Disney, or those that love it, but to help others learn about Universal and hopefully make their trip wonderful.

We have such a wonderful group of people here on this board. Let's get back to helping others, which is what we do so well.

Just read the thread.

Some of them have such high expectations, they are bound to crash sometime. No place in this world could possibly live up to such expectations. No wonder some may trash any some other place. Even if they were disappointed in Disney, they would naturally take their frustrations out on other places such as Universal. I may not like it, but I can understand it.

I do hand it to Disney to be able to take a fantastic theme park, but really nothing more than a successful business, to be able to create an almost cult-like euphoria in some of their fans. Many other products would love their businsess plans to instill that kind of loyalty in their customer base.

I personally prefer a more diversified vacation plan: Universal, Disney, Sea World, Mauii, Cancun, Nice, LA, Yellowstone, a weekend in the mountains, or any vacation we plan.

I agree with the lets not bash thing. I enjoy Disney and Universal but I am not infatuated with either one.In our local newspaper today we have a section dedicated to planning a vacation at WDW which lists several web sites including this one.I told my wife if new people read some of the threads I have seen in the last few days they are going to believe Disney is full of nut cases that will attack you in the park if you make a mistake.

I slipped into that Disney worshiping mindset for a while some years ago. I'm not exactly sure why except that I really needed that escape at the time. It worked for me and I was harmless so I don't see the need to bash.

I still enjoy WDW a lot but I'm more down to earth about it now. Why did I change? I wanted to see more and having discovered Universal, I'm glad that I did.

I can't believe how they are attacking the OP.
Aparently there aren't any rude/rule breaking etc guest at WDW. If you perceive rudeness there is something wrong with you, or there is something about you that makes normally nice people rude to you.

Well I opened my big mouth
I will probably be told to stay with the rude people over here

I LOVE disney and US/IOA and since we live in south Florida we visit at least five times a year (every other year when we buy annual passes). I have over 1,900 posts on the dis but that is over six years. That said, I am not obsessed with any of it. I ENJOY going because it is a quick and fun getaway for us and my kids love it. About three weeks before we go up there (either park) I do spend more time on the dis researching, etc.

The one thing I deplore about these boards is how fanatical some people can be about any perceived criticism of WDW. For instance, we ate at the Trails End Buffet and I posted a less than happy review. I got attacked personally by a few people. Really nasty comments. This kind of all or nothing mentality chases away people by the droves and allows the less than nice people to pounce whenever they want.

Of course they did not stop me from continuing with my honest opinions. ;)

I joke that I am a disneyaholic but I really don't shake when I drive away.

Five days until the Portofino!

That is exactly why I like this board the best of all on the DIS! I feel like everyone here is my friend here! I don't like Richter's Burgers (of course it could have been a one time bad meal and I might give them another try) and lots on here do, but they're not going to say bad things about me for stating that opinion.

ITA... I've been attacked for not liking Chef Mickey's or the Contemporary resort. Told I wasn't being fair, should give them another chance, must be a food or resort snob etc

Oh and I can't forget the poster who called me (and everyone else)trailer trash for liking the AS resorts. Did she get reprimanded by the DIS or other posters. No she was defended.... "we all can't have the same opinions now can we"

:scared1: That's just plain snobby! I have felt like I was looked down upon on those boards because we don't stay onsite at Disney. The perks just aren't good enough to get us to stay with Disney. We don't like to get up that early and the parks are open plenty late for us. Don't get me wrong, I would stay at a value resort (with the rest of the trailer trash ;)), but we travel with 3 children (one being a nephew and the other two our own), and the options for a party of 5 just aren't there for us.

I was attacked once for pointing out that they no longer had the ice cream sandwiches at the Main Street ice cream place where you could pick the any ice cream and they would sandwich it between two cookies. My son really wanted one with mint chocolate chip ice cream on his birthday.

Anyway I posted this on the restaurants board to give people the heads up and was told that I should be happy that WDW is giving me the "adventure" of buying my ice cream at one place and the cookies at another to make my own ice cream sandwich. Yes, I can't imagine anything more exciting then waiting in not just one, but two long lines on a hot and crowed day.

Waiting in two lines to make an ice cream sandwich! :scared1: I don't think so!!! That's just crazy!!!

i ate at cm about 3 times and would never go back.
the cm's that work there do not watch the food line very well.

when i was there, too many kids would use their hands, dirty hands, and also use the one serving spoon for 3 different dishes to serve themselves.

when i saw food mixed together, i freaked. can't eat food that way.

the cm who i told about the mess just said it wasn't her station.......

don't blame you for bypassing that place.
and its not all that great

i have been slammed and flammed for my UO tags......on a disney thread.

now, i post on the disney related threads if a homie is being blasted.
other than that, i don't bother too much.

chobie.....I don't whether to laugh or shake my head in disbelief. It is amazing the lengths that some will resort to to defend WDW.

I guess I come off as a WDW hater. We sctually love WDW. We've just found that USO makes it more easy/affordable etc to be repeat customers.
We will probably do a week in WDW in 2008, but I'm hoping for a long weekend in USO before then. It's been 10 months since I've been to USO and I'm going nuts. It's been 5 yrs since we last went to WDW, and yes I miss it, but not like I do USO. I enjoy USO because I feel like we can do a long weekend, enjoy the rides and relax at the same time.
After a week at WDW I feel like I missed 1/2 of what there was to do, and I need a week off to recover.

hey homie, the mods closed that thread 4 minutes ago.
i was reading it and thought you had the perfect post.

Idon't blame the OP if they really did ask for it to be closed. The thread was getting crazy. I just find it a bit odd that as soon as someone takes up for the OP, it was closed.

that was a great post. I laughed out loud. You make a great point and then the next response is "closed at op's request". :rotfl2:

I am not sure why that tickled me so! :rotfl:

Great Post Sha Lyn!

And if you ever questioned the "rules" of behavior at Disney - This thread is all about What Not To Do in Disney.
(in all fairness - most of the suggestions are just plain common sense, common courtesy things)

But my favorite:
Don't tell me how much fun you had at Disneyworld and that you really loved the Hulk Coaster and Spiderman ride.
