just a reminder that the mickey statues are in dc starting today at the ronald regan building plaza (I think) and they are here through april 30th. guess we all need to run to the dollar store and get those mickey stickers eh? :) maggie

Thanks so much for the reminder. We are going to try to go the second or third week of April when it is warmer. I can't wait to see them!!!

I've got it on my schedule for April 16th. I want to wait until after the Cherry Blossom visitors have left.

How cute!

Do the statues go on tour around the country---say, somewhere closer to the South? I'd love to see them, but a trip to D.C. is just not in the cards for us right now.

Those were some LOs!!!

WOOO HOOOO!!! DD has another cheerleading competition 4/9 & 10 in Maryland. I've been trying to get DH to start out early on Friday to see these statues again!! We saw them in WDW 12/03, but I NEED to see them again!! :worship:

The statues have been touring the country since last March. I am not absolutely sure, but I think after Washington DC they will be going to Disneyland for the 50th Anniversary and then they will be auctioned off for charity.

I think they came from disneyland and are going to new york to get auctioned off after the dc stop. maggie

I had forgotten that they started today and went downtown to go to a Barnes and Noble. I was walking down the block and saw all these kids with Mickey balloons and then it clicked and realized that today was the first day. It was really great to see the statues. I had seen them in Jan '04, but it was still really exciting. There had a lot of activities going on, including raffles, trivia games, coloring stations, and a Home Depot station that was letting people build their own Mickey bookends (I was upset because by the time I got there they had cut off the line and weren't letting any more people make them). My favorite part though was the visit from the big man himself, MICKEY!! If you're around, it's definitely worth a visit.

We just came back. There are too cute. We saw 77 of them. Two are inside at the food court. The only one that I did not see was the Janet Jackson one and it seems to have been replaced with a Washington DC one. It didn't have the plaque like the others had and I don't remember seeing it on Twigs web site.

Just some helpful hints. If you drive there is no parking of course but the parking garage across from the Warner is only $9 (only 9  but others were 14 or 7 an hour) If you go inside the building of course it has tight security to so make sure you have some ID. I think there is metro stop under the RR buliding.

It was not to crowded today because it was a little rainy and cold but I know it will be crowded and might be hard to get pictures when it is. Remember the Cherry B. Festival is coming and everyone except Mont. County has off this week for Easter.

P.s. The RR building is beautiful! It is the first time I had seen inside and it is worth the trip too.

Julianne - thanks for the tip on driving versus the metro. I think we are going to take the metro and prevent any problems with driving/parking.

Julianne,

Could you possibly find out which metro stop the RR building is. I often go to DC for business, not real good about locations unless I go by the metro.

I can't wait to see the statues again!

Thanks for the information. I am staying on the blue and orange line. :)

I was told that you need to take the metro to the Federal Triangle station ... come up and you're right there!

Is there a web-site about the statues that lists any stops and any more info onthe dc location - dates times....
