Premieres tonight on TLC!

For all the naysayers out there, read this:

http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2011/...tlc-extreme-couponing-meet-tiffany-ivanovsky/

She let me know that she didn’t buy more than 10 of any one item, so her prep was nothing out of the ordinary. Tiffany had to avert a catasrophe during her episode, when she and her husband learned that their Kroger store’s coupon policy has just changed! (For those of you who are Texas Kroger shoppers, you know that things are continuing to change there, for reasons which obviously shouldn’t be attributed to Tiffany!) Like the rock-star Krazy Coupon Lady that she is, Tiffany was still wildly successful, in spite of only being able to double or triple one of any coupon. She and her husband, Paul separated their purchase into two transactions, totaling $1104.35!! Tune in to see how much she saved!

And don't know how accurate this is, but one of the Crazy Koupon Lady blog comments was:

No, it’s not attributed to her at all. Kroger issued a release, they had been working on the policy for months, long before any of this happened. To even get approval to video in the store is a long, hard process. The manager over the entire state of Texas was there during all the filming, and everything Tiffany purchased had to be pre-approved by her. She had to have a coupon list to present as well, detailing every coupon she was using. It would be bizarre to blame one individual when this show has been going for months, and there are PLENTY of other extreme couponers out there besides this one Mom.

Thank you for the tip. I have been flexing more couponing muscle lately.

This could turn me into a real pro!

I am dvring it. Since the special I have become much better. Right now I am probably playing AAA coupon ball.

The biggest trick is learning to restrain, not just couponing better. I know these ppl get large sums of items for almost nothing. However, I do not want that much stuff, or have to devote that much time. Also, one of the ladies buys 46 bottles of mustard (free or really cheap) as her husband says he hates mustard. lol. I am trying to be careful to buy ONLY what I need. That said, I am buying more than just a 6 week supply. I am trying to work more 6-12 months on nonfood, and 3-4 months on food. However, that is a progressive build and not on one shopping trip, but over time.

cool, there was a local person who they came and taped for 3 days. I am anxious to see that episode as we have limited grocery store choices and none of them double coupons.

My dvr is also set. No stores in my area double coupons or allow for both a store coupon and a manufacturers coupon on one item. I am interested to watch.

I don't know how to quote what someone else quotes so you'll just have to read the first post! :)

But the two quotes contradict each other. It says she didn't do any out of the ordinary prep work but then she had to get everything pre-approved from the manager (of the whole Texas chain of stores) with a list of items she was buying. That seems like a lot of extra prep work to me!

I love coupons and love to get stuff for free but in order to get so many coupons, there is a lot of extra work involved - you have to get the coupons from somewhere (dumpster dive, ask friends, join a coupon train, mail coupons, etc.), you have to sort the coupons, you have to match up coupons to specials and make sure everything is within the right date range, you have to figure out the store policies, and you have to be willing to shop at different stores. And I still haven't figured out how people get free produce - unless they are growing it :confused3 And in the end, you have to make sure you are USING the products. Generally you aren't going to go through 2 bottles of mustard in a year and they expire by then - so why would you want 100 bottles anyway?

Don't get me wrong, I still like couponing and I'll watch too :)

The thing that annoys me most about this show is that they don't tell that it's not a typical trip. Those trips are crazy! And don't happen all the time (unless you have a problem).

One of the girls that is featured on the show (not the premiere, not sure which episode she is in) is over on the weusecoupon's board asking for the new Similac coupons (which people with babies are desperately trying to get their hands on) because she wants to make a video showing how Walmart will give her money back with those coupons.

It sickens me. That isn't why Similac put those coupons out.

darn! I think this comes on here at the same time as Survivor and American Idol and Tivo only can record 2 shows. Ugh might have to forgo AI tonight

I don't know if I should watch. I've seen shows like that before and they get me so excited, but then I realize I can't do that. It's such a downer.

Where were these shows when my Mama was the queen of coupons:confused3, she could buy things for pennies (great things that we needed and not just junk either). These ladies have nothing on her:rotfl:

I think if I could shop like that $600 and pay only $3.00 to 6.00

I would try to help the food banks and homeless places out or show them how to do it.

I seen the one lady had 40yr worth of toilet paper saved up
It was a wall full of it LOL.

Ron.

It comes on later as well. I think around 11. Around here we call these people shelf clearers. They are the ones that ruin doubles and triples for the rest of us.
