Don't Eat at Sci-Fi

i have ate there the past 2 times and we loved it. our server was great, and funny, and the food is really good. they have awsome drinks and the atmosphere is perfect!!!

We also love the Sci-Fi (and always go for lunch - burgers, rings, shakes - I also like their chili).

We also did not like Le Cellier (had bad service and bad food). TX steakhouses are much better.

I hate to disagree (nah, not really), but...Yummy food and fabulous atomosphere! It is a must eat place for us on every trip.

Maybe I should clarify first........we went at dinner and not at lunch. There were no cheeseburgers on the dinner menu. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and I had the steak. There were only 5 entrees to choose from. My 7 year old had the hot dog from the kids menu and said something about how the hot dot had a strange taste and a bad smell. Ok, the milkshakes were pretty good. Our waiter told us since we were on the DDP we could order them for our drink. THank goodness we did or we would have left hungry.

We were there May 19-26 and ate there for dinner, on the ddp, and they let us order burgers. I just asked and they let us have them.
My ds ask to go here every year! He loves there light up drinks and this year they came in a glow in the dark cup!! We have only ever ordered the burgers, and milkshakes. The sundae's rock too!!
I hate you all had a bad experience.

Sci-fi is our only must-do for every trip, the only restaurant that we actually return to over and over again. The atmosphere is so fun and the food is good - basic burgers and onion rings and other artery clogging classics of American cuisine, not exactly an extensive or creative menu, but well prepared and yummy.

What did i miss????? Spiked milkshakes please do tell...: :flower3:

There are several on the menu. This one is the one I always order:

Marsha's Martian - Chocolate and vanilla shakes, mixed with Bailey's Irish Cream and Kahlua. - $9.50

I ate at Sci-Fi years ago (I think 1999) and it was really awful. I don't really want to go back. But it could have improved since. I wouldn't know. :confused3

We love SCI-FI! We didn't go last time and really missed it so we're going again in July! We just get burgers, onion rings, and shakes.

We had dinner there and I had the steak and au gratin potatoes. I had the o-rings for my appetizer. I thought it was all pretty good! I had the cheesecake with caramel corn and M&Ms. I don't remember what the other people in my group had (kids had sundaes and other adult had the choc tart thing), but there were no complaints!

Funny how perception of one place can vary so much. We did not have a pleasant experience there a couple of years ago. Why? Well, the food (dinner) was ok at best. The two factors that put me in a bad mood was: It was late and probably their last round for the evening, so they proceeded to sit the three of us in the second seat behind another family. There were plenty of empty cars around but we were told that many of the servers had gone home so they couldn't give us our own car. You could still see the screen, but you also could not help but have the back of someone's head in your face. To make it worse, our waiter was very short with us throughout the evening as if he was rushing us out of there. For example, I am a big fan of A-1 steak sauce, and when I asked for some, the waiter said there was a sauce already on the steak but if I tasted it and STILL wanted it, he would get it. I am not a complainer, particularly on vacation, so I did not say anything, but DW and I vowed never to go back there again. We experienced it, say we've been there and now we are done with it.

Sorry you had a bad experience, but it's definetly not the norm. We've eaten there every trip we've ever been to WDW and it's always been great. It's not the best food in the world, but it's great when you're feeling a burger/fry/shake attack coming on.:lmao:

Awesome BBQ chicken sandwich on the lunch menu - it's a must-do for my family!

ITA-I had this when we were there in March and it was really yummy. This was our first time there and we were impressed. We did not have an ADR but the place was pretty empty so they were able to seat us right away.

We liked Sci-Fi the chicken ceaser salad could have been a bit better. DH burger and onion rings were really good. The chocolate tart was also good along with the hot fudge sundaes.

The atmosphere is really cool, and the food is just fine. I had the shrimp and pasta for lunch and it really wasn't much different than I had elsewhere on the property. We also had great service and we were one of those really annoying tables...1 ddp check, 1 for adult beverages and 2 1/2 year olds meal, and one for my parents paying cash. My boys are still talking about it.

I like the cheeseburger and the tomato soup. I don't like the onion rings.

I do like the alcoholic Oreo shake.

I'll be going back. I've found the service to be very sloooow so I will go when I am not in a hurry.

We were there the second weekend of June. I totally agree with everyone that the atmosphere was awesome! Sooooo cute! We have a mixed review, though.

We went for dinner, and the diner menu IMO *is* disappointing, but I saw the menu before we went so it is not like I was surprised. I was just hoping for a miracle I guess. If burgers are available, they should just put it on the menu! There was nothing but the chicken sandwich that interested DH or I so we got that and I must admit, it was TASTY! But I think we would have preferred burgers. We also split a bowl of chili, which was, from what I recall, fine. It was not extraordinary, but it was not gross, either, and no one got sick.

DD got a chocolate shake and a hot dog, and did not like the hot dog. I am not sure why. She REALLY liked the shake. We ALL liked the shake, lol, so much that we got another one for DH and I to split.

We did mess up in one area, though, and that is seating, and I will tell you, it was our own fault, but we were kind of misled. The seating is a little weird, with two in front and two in back. Well, we are 3, so someone would have had to sit alone. When checked in, we were asked if we wanted to do all 3 in one row or 2 and 1, and when we asked we were told we would all fit in one row.

Well, she was kind of wrong. We managed in one row, and it was fine to sit, but it was tough eating. There was NO ROOM for the plates and DH did not like eating in the dark. (That's his own fault, though) The waitress was very nice and brought DH and I refills on our soft drinks, but did not take the other glasses, so we had two shakes and four sodas, in addition to three plates and a bowl of chili on our table. We were also in the back of a car where the rest of that car, and the car next to us were all one party, so we really felt like outsiders with all of these people chatting and passing babies between cars and here all 3 of us were crammed in.

We will try it again, but we will try it for lunch (where we *know* there are burgers!) and we will not sit all in one row.

Oh, and one other nice thing? The waitress offered (actually kinda demanded, lol) to take a picture of us with our camera. That was nice.

We usually go every trip and missed it the last time. Sorry that you had a bad experience. DH always gets a hamburger/onion rings/shake and I have to have the rueben/fries/shake. We have always enjoyed our meals and the atomsphere.
