Or romping between the front and back seats of your car. Crate it or leave it at home! :sad2:

Between "oh, what a cute little puppy" and full grown. The dog kept getting in her face and romping around. We're on a 4 lane road going 55-60 mph and she's swerving because she can't see. By all means, bring your dog along and KILL me. :sad2:

Ah! The exciting adolencent age. Perhaps the driver learned a good lesson. I probably would have pulled over to let them get a good mile or so ahead of me.

When I was young, my girlfriend and I drove from Ohio to Oregon with a gorgeous malamute in the back seat. We's stop at rest stops and walk, water and ... her. She was great for picking up boys with dogs. It was our thelma and louise trip with Donna Reed(that's what we called her but her name was really Nicely). She never got in our laps while we were driving, lol!

What a foolish lady to let the malamute jump all over like that. No matter how big or small the dog is it is so unsafe to have it in your lap. If the dog isn't trained to lay down or sit nice it shouldn't be in the car with you. Or like you said crate it.

when dh and i were young and stupid and I was preg. with first child we went to the poconos on a spur of the moment camping trip. We brought our collie, in our little vw bug. He threw up in my lap. A cop pulled us over and laughed at me. It was an awful trip.

That is why we have 4 doggie seatbelts otherwise there would be 3 poodles and a tibetan spaniel jockying for the lap and shotgun position in the car during road trips. :teeth:

Daughter's black lab loves to travel with her. Just goes to sleep in the passenger seat. And no one messes with my daughter with her around.

My friend tells me that when he drives, he has a teacup poodle and a 110 pound Rottweiler jockeying for attention in his lap. Apparently, the Rottweiler thinks she's a lap dog. :)

Our Mal is still in the puppy stage, I have heard that for mals puppy stage is 1 to 12 years or so adult for 2 years and then old dog until? Anyway we have a 85lb 9 year old puppy. When we drive with her she is always in the back of the jeep seperated by bars. I hate driving with her in the car anyway as her pacing or movement causes the car to rock I cant imagine how hard it is to drive with a mal moving back and forth in the car. Sometimes I am amazed at what some animals are able to get away with.
I hope you and everyone around that car get to where you are going safely.

Wow, I would have been all over the road if Duke had been in my lap while driving. He was 95 lbs. of pure muscle and fluff!

doggie seatbelts?

Shenzi loves car rides and for the most part stays in the front seat. If she decides she wants to explore or get in my lap, I firmly block her with my right arm. She just goes back and lays down. I think when she gets bigger I'll have to figure something else out though...

God he was so cute. Hope you are doing okay since his passing.

That's why they sell dog seatbelts!! Harley was never a problem when driving, he just wants to sit in the drivers lap and look out the window. And he's 11 pounds.

Winston, on the other hand, wants to lay on the dash and lick your face. He's 40 pounds and this does NOT work.

So we bought him a seatbelt for the backseat and we all drive happily now.

Thank you. We are doing a little better every day. Sometimes I'll walk around the corner and expect him to be there, and then I'll tear up. But, every day there are a few less tears, and more smiles about the good memories. :)
