Idiot mom trick number 47...

If your child leaves his beloved Lucasarts hat (which we wound up losing anyway, but that 's a different thread) on Winnie the Pooh, resist the parental urge to save it. DON'T jump back in the Poohmobile! The CM has to emergency stop the ride and hundreds of little children and their parents are then very unhappy with you. Plus, your child then says, "remember when you broke Pooh Bear?" evey time you walk by the ride. The CM's will retrieve the item for you, no problem.

I think I just reacted without thinking. If I'd been forewarned, perhaps I could have resisted the impulse. My apologies to anyone inconvenienced by my bone-headed move!

Some unwise things at least you owned up to it and learned from the experience.::yes:: :wave2:

LOL. OMG that was so funny. "remember when you broke Pooh Bear" That sounds like something my Dd5 would torture me with. Thanks for the laugh. I needed one today.

We lost my then 4YO DS's Kilamanjaro Safari hat on Spaceship Earth. Our car had stopped just 4' short of the exit and we were waiting for the ride to start again so we could exit. My DS propped his head on his arm just enough to flip his cap off of his head. We could see it and the CM could see it underneath the tracks but couldn't grab it. My DS was devastated that his hat was gone.

The CM gave us a voucher to get a new hat. We looked and looked and LOOKED for another KS hat and couldn't for the life of us find one. My DS settled for another hat instead.

I still have nightmares about calling Lost and Found four years later..."It's a mossy green color, kid-sized, says 'Kilmanjaro Safaris' on the front..."

Perhaps we should start a therapy group, OP. ::yes::

I lable every thing that we take into the parks ,hats, autograph books, backpacks, sweaters and jackets that we might take off, with are name, resort we are at and room#.
We lost a hat and it was send to the front desk of the hotel.

 Too funny! Thanks for the tip though. :)

I don't blame you for what you did... WDW eats hats like there's no tomorrow. I've lost track of the number of caps we've left on rides, restaurant chairs, fell out of strollers, etc. Even returning to the scene a couple of minutes later isn't good enough... gone... lost to the WDW "hat vortex". Never a one seems to make it to L&F. Even having a GOH badge with a child's rather unique name on it didn't help. Calls to L&F are all the same "Sorry... we don't have any hats like that."

but you did it out of LOVE!

I agree, There is a evil hat monster at WDW! My favorite hat blew off on BTMRR and I was just sure I would get it back because only a CM could retrieve it. She told me they collect them at the end of the night. I checked L&F everyday until we left and even called a couple times after we were home. NOTHING!!

That was 2 years ago and I am still not over it! Can you imagine what that could do to a child?! LOL

My DD princess hat fell in the toilet when she was going to the bathroom at Epcot and my mother in law actually got it out and was going to clean it but I made her throw it away and we just bought a new one. I understand the hat dilema my DD was very upset also.

:teeth: Sounds like soemthing I would do. I'm always acting before I think. It's a very troublesome thing to do!

My Mickey hat blew off on Splash, I completely forgot I was wearing it. Luckily, the boy sitting behind me had cat-like reflexes and handed it to me at the bottom of the drop. He was my hero!

We lost a hat (which, like the OP, ended up being really lost later) on Energy. It was too far away to make a grab for it. The CM told us to come back in an hour, and sure enough they retrieved it no problem. It was pretty funny having them radio each other about a hat!

Thanks everyone! I agree there should be a lost hat support group...

It wouldn't have been so bad to lose if George Lucas himself hadn't given the hat to DS. Ah, well, we may yet be able to get a replacement, I hope!

Thanks for sharing a greatly funny story! I realy like the breaking the pooh ride thing!

On first trip to WDW since my Grad - night (dd was2) I got a new hat special for vacation that I loved. As soon as we got on the parking lot tram, the first morning, The tram took off to pick up more passengers or go to the TTC (I forget which) and my hat flew off immediately. I was so upset, I even shed a couple of tears. DH *thought* he could help me feel better by surprising me with a Winnie the Pooh hat, which DD (now 12) still loves to this day:crazy:

The drop in Pirates is another area. I lost my hat there when I was younger.
