Don't delay customizing your MagicBands

I misunderstood the timing of the window for customizing the magic bands. The official Disney website states this:

• If you customize your MagicBand at least 11 days before you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, it will be shipped to your home.

So, I thought I still had a couple weeks to finalize the colors that we want. Nope! The box showed up yesterday, having been shipped a full month before our arrival day.

Just so you know for the future, MDE shows you the specific date you must customize your bands by. Just go to the magicband section and it will be there.

I got mine way before 11 days before my trip. I got mine 11/3 and we check in 11/27. Last day to customize was 10/28 and they shipped the next day.

Right. Just as @AngiTN stated, they are supposed to ship a month before you check in.

I would write them with feedback about that. I just looked up that info, and it does state that. And of course it makes no sense *except for* cases where a trip is only booked very close to that 11 days. But it doesn't state that. For those of us who read everything, that's a wrong and frustrating info page.

In addition to MDE showing your last day to customize you should have received at least one e-mail perhaps even two reminding you to customize your MB.

I can't remember where I read it but I want to say the customize your MB at least 11 days is if you booked under the 30 days before your trip mark. If you booked over X amount of time before your trip they send it out around the 30 day before mark.

Disney says it takes around 11 days (give or take a few days depending on factors like weather, holidays and weekends) for the full shipping process so my assumption is if you book under 30 days they may send your magic bands perhaps by an expedited way which is why they give you up to 11 days before your trip and it still get to your home versus customizing between 10 and 6 days before your trip and your MB would be shipped to the resort instead. If the normal process takes 11 days (give or take a few days) there would be no way to ensure your MB got to you before your start date of your trip without them expediting the shipping process for those booking under 30 days--at least that's my thought--which is why they ship out at 30days mark for those who booked enough in advance as they can take a longer time (i.e. 11 days give or take); again that's at least my thought.

I swear I read that (about the 30days aspect) somewhere on Disney's website previously but maybe not. I could totally be wrong about the booking under 30 days from your trip start date BTW.

Hmm I've never seen that stated anywhere although I have always looked at the magic band section of my MDE account to see info such as that and its definitely customize until 30 days prior and then they process them and usually ship them about 28 days prior and I've always gotten mine 21-24 days prior.

We nearly missed our deadline. Just by chance we discussed it one day, all chose our colours and when I went online we only had two days left to customise! Good job we did it, I definitely don't want a grey magic band.

Also, we had selected ours when we made a reservation months ago but when we upgraded with the discounts, it deleted our selections and we had to chose again. I wasn't expecting that and fortunately noticed it in time.

I recently messed up the date by which we needed to customize. It was a split stay, and for some reason I had the date by which we needed to customize our second set of MagicBands as the date for our first set. So we missed the cut off. Oops. They still sent half of our MagicBands to us. I got an email that the others will be waiting for us at check-in. I couldn't figure out why only half our MagicBands shipped! Opening the MagicBand box is an big deal at my house, and when we opened it, it was half empty! I only put two and two together last week. I won't make that mistake again!

If you google the phrase you’ll easily find the info page where it’s stated.

If the OP read that page early on there would be no reason for her to go to the MB page until closer in. And some of us want to trust faq pages more than any given personalized page in MDE.

I've already done mine for a trip in September.

I can't customize them. I guess I have to call.

I called them. With some reservations there is a glitch and customizing didn't show. I have now customized our bands.
