Call me a spoiled sport or jealous or green with envy. I don't care!!! :snooty:

It pisses me off to see the same people get multiple pins and I can't even get one!!!!!

It is not fair!!!:headache:

I just got my pin a couples of days ago (20%,30%,40%)after trying forever. What I did was try saving 5 vacations at different times of the year at different resorts ,I did 2 values,1 mod,2 deluxe and some I selected the dining plan some I didn't,in about a week I finally got an email with a pin, just booked GF for dec 5th-9th,maybe it will work for u

The codes and rates are basically just the typical discounts they give to everybody. I noticed this a few weeks ago. My sister who hasn't been down in a few years got a pin code in email. I was all jealous, then a few weeks later Disney released the spring codes that are available now. They were the same exact discounts my sister got. Its like they do with everything. Codes come out for Visa cardholders, then a few days later, AP holders, then they are released for everyone.

If you want to know when a code will be available for you, check out mousesavers on the internet and see when they were released last year for the time you are going. They will be released around the same dates this year. I've been doing this for 10 years and have never gone to WDW without getting a code.

Edit: It looks like your going at the end of June. Last year the discounts for this time were released on May 7th.

Boy can I appreciate your frustration.

You'll see linked in my signature is a thread from a while back that explains all about CODES & PINS and so forth. I wrote and managed that entire thread and all the while =-> I never got one myself!

THAT was torture.

But let me tell you what I do know.

These things are targeted based on a large number of factors that cascade together in a way that generally is quite unpredictable.

People have their theories as to 'how to get a pin or code' =-> but the truth is they were just as likely to get one without going thru all those steps and hoops...

For example, last year, I FINALLY got a couple of PINS. I was frustrated as all heck because I was completely unable to use them. I couldn't go to Disney last year.

I think their computer systems realized "Hey this guy used to come every 4 months and now he hasn't coming a year - let's convince him to come back.."

But now that I *can* go this year.. have I gotten a PIN? No. And I did all the crazy things suggested in these threads to make it happen.

Realistically, there are some great public offers out there and please keep in mind that aren't that different from the PIN offers..

Examples :

For five night stays...

You can save 30% at a Value, 35% at a mod and 40% at a deluxe... and 45% at a Villa.

The date ranges vary per offer.

http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....room&int_CMP=WDW_Homepage_FY10Q3RoomOfferTile

But the big news is.. let's say you are staying value.. The difference between the public offer and the 40% PIN offer (If one exists for Values, I haven't seen it) ... is between $8 and $14 a night.

When you look at it that way.. it's a lot less to fret about.

And I completely agree with everything DJDK says above.

:)

I live in NY, and seems to me, maybe Im wrong but NY didnt get pin codes this time around

I know how it feels. Every year we go in January and never get a code or anything, this year, we're not able to go in January. Of course DH has recieved 2 codes within the last 6 weeks, all of which we cannot use. We are hoping for free dining, and last week some people got a FD pin during the times we are going. We however just got a code for a time we can't use. So, we wait....and wait...and cross our fingers that free dining will be offered to the general public for Sept.

I agree with what others are saying. The GP deals are actually better than my pin offer right now. I have a few pins, not rubbing it in believe me, but if I were to book it would be with the GP gift card off most likely!

I've crunched the numbers and honestly, the pin I received is a whole 5% better. Which is nice for the deluxe rooms, but beyond that, not much.

I wasn't offered free dining or the park hopper/water park pin or the % off for later in the year. Those may be the gems you are speaking of. But I can say for now, the offers that are out there, aren't half bad.

Besides that Southwest does have some decent deals that beat out disneys prices. You need a spread sheet to keep it all straight for sure! The only thing that got pricey for me was adding in my 3 yr old. That added more $$ for me than Disney itself, but for my inlaws, it was better pricing for the 2 of them than the "deals" Disney has going on :confused3

Don't get down on yourself! I have busted my butt trying to make this vacation a reality and what I've come to find is that you will go mad trying to nit pick it down. Calling in is pointless, those people don't seem to want to help you. They aren't very forthcoming, just my opinion. Others seem to have a better experience, which is great. Just not my experience with the 4 calls I made. Find a better way and find other ways to cut costs

I'm with you! We're planning a trip for this November but without some sort of discount, either room or dining, we can't do it. I've done everything recommended: saved various vacations at different resorts, registered for everything under the sun, opened another account and email in DH's name, etc. Just waiting....waiting is making me crazy! :sad2:

Ditto on this. I learned this cold hard fact last year about this time when I started trying to plan my March trip. If you don't know a discount or current offer, they won't tell you one over the phone. I was calling in with a PIN, but couldn't get something for my family of 6 within budget. Each time I called I got different numbers, and they were always going up in costs!!

Finally I took a shot in the dark, and contacted a Disney specialist TA. She was lucky enough to get me a few different options (because she knew more about what she was doing) and put a hold on the various offers (something I didn't know I could do) so that they weren't "gone" the next time she called in. Her help in getting my trip booked, in my budget, was the reason I got into the trip planning business. I wanted others to see how they CAN go in their price range, and that the trip won't break the bank!

I just received one where it was buy 3 days get the 4th day free. Huh? We never stay for less then a week and we just booked a stay for this Thursday :cool1: using the buy 4 get three free. I really didn't understand the appeal of this pin at all.

wdhinn89: It's frustrating, quite frustrating, when you hear of people getting PINs left and right and you get none. We received 2 PINs last Fall. We got one back in October for value resorts and tickets, which we couldn't use it for our dates (and that was frustrating too). Then we went on the site and did all the things people suggested here. Saved vacation offers and tinkered around the site in general. After what seemed like a long long time, we did get one that we could apply to our dates. It was the 20%/30%/40% off room. We have not received any more PINs since then. I know there are other PIN offers floating out there as reported here on the boards; however, we have not received them. Others get them on what seems a monthly basis. Not us. So far only 2 in our lifetime.

It looks like you are going at the end of June. If past history is any indication, keep an eye out for the general public room only summer discount. If they repeat the offer, you can apply it to your already existing reservation. And yes, even if your ressie is a package you can apply it to the room portion. Last year the summer discount was the exact same discount as the 20%/30%/40%. The PIN offer is identical in that you can only apply the discount to the room portion of your package, not tickets or dining. Soooo as others have suggested already, if you are truly fed up with 'trying for a PIN,' then keep your eye out on the "Special Offers" tab on the Disney website. As soon as you see those summer discounts roll around, call them and have them apply the discount to your already existing reservation. Don't wait because there are only a specific number of rooms available for the discount and if you wait they can be gone by the time you call.

Here's wishing you tons of pixie dust

One further thought .... if you are waiting for a late June or first two weeks of July PIN code or discount.. they are scarce.

It's a rare thing in the best of all circumstances (and the worst of all economies..)

Disney typically needs to discount less then because people vacation then as a rule.. so .. there's less of a problem filling the rooms.

If you can be more flexible on your dates.. you may have better luck.

Or maybe you can schedule your trip before June 12?

We have gone almost every year for the last 10 years and have never received a pin or code! I've never figured out how so many people get them. I would love one for this year in this bad economy - we're relying on a bounce back for this year for free dining in Sept. It's really nice to have this but we have to do it in the heat of the summer to go down.:surfweb:

I have been to Disney at least 20 times since it opened. When the kids were younger we went 10 years in a row. Now it is just DH and me and we have gone the last 8 years in a row. I have never received a pin code. Since the last 2 trips we booked bounceback, I guess they figure they have us hooked:rotfl: and don't need to send us a pin.

I have to take one thing back.

I JUST THIS MINUTE received a PIN.

It's for exactly the same dates and offers as the public offer I mentioned above.

So.. no big win there. :)

To the OP -- Yes, it does sound like sour grapes. However we have all had a mouth full of those grapes at least once at some point. :lmao:
Hope you get what you are looking for. Good luck! :wizard:

WOW! I thought it was just ME :lmao: I have not seen anything for late June early July...when we decided to go this year( actually it was decided for us, SIL is getting married, so our late Aug trip, where we usually get FREE dine is lost:eek:)
I did get two pins(after saving trips on the website) , both did not cover our entire trip, one covered three days :confused3, then another came and it covered all the days and when I called it was MORE $$ using that code...so, I am still keeping my fingers crossed for something a little better to come along...right now, we've saved about 500., which is nothing to sneeze at.......it is very hard to give up late august when we save so much $$$ and go in June/July when we are paying so much more for the same room/trip :eek:BUT, I am still getting to go, so I do feel lucky :cutie:
OP: :wizard: I Hope you get a Really Good Pin!!!! :wizard:

Dh and I have only been to Disney World once, and that was 6 years ago. We didn't even stay at a Disney resort. I have tried whatever I can to receive a PIN, but no luck. I even have like 5 emails set up with them and haven't gotten a single one.
