The August of 2007 trip he met T's family and quickly bonded with Waldo and Andy and was really looking forward to seeing them again in 08...this was the beginning of a new phase in Tony's life...actually looking forward to a WDW trip!! Well, I think secretly he always does, although he complains about going to anyone who will listen, but now it's different...it's much like Michael & Leo...it's better with buddies...

The boys did bond, didn't they? In fact the first thing Waldo asked was "Is Tony going, too?"

So...whilst everyone was being careful with their credit cards and buying things with cash...well, me - I was happily sailing that river in Egypt...you know the one, right?...Denial.

You know how some people are Lactose intolerant? I'm responsibility intolerant.

I totally hear ya!

Oh my gosh - thank you for saying that! I was feeling a little guilty about not being overly-wowed by the pics. It looks nice, but not quite what I was expecting I guess.

This was the trip that Tony finally found out that my "invisible internet friend" was in fact a living, breathing person...the year before, Tony and V kept missing each other at the pool, etc. so I think he was really starting to doubt that she even existed.

For those of you that don't know, we all start planning our next trip basically before we unpack our suitcases from the last trip. Soooo..this August trip's been a long time in the making.

Oh and I have yet to mention this trip is T's fault.

So, as noted by my cohort Michelle, Annual Pass discounted rates for summer were released this week. Hooray!


I didn’t call at 7am; more like 8:30am. And I truly had no idea what I’d wind up with. Contemporary Garden Wings with Standard views are few and far between, and they seldom show up with AP discounts. So I pretty much assumed I’d walk away from the phone call with one of three reservations:

A. A discounted room at CR in a different category.
B. A discounted room at another resort entirely.
C. The same rack-rate reservation with which I’d begun the phone call.



Happy day for V, there wound up being a D.!


“Michael” answered on the second ring.

(See that? No fancy fictitious names at good old Central Reservations. Only DVC Member Services gets the “Buffy’s” and “Cinnamon’s”!)


“Michael” asked how he could help me and I explained:

“I have this existing reservation and I’m hoping to switch it to the Annual Passholder rate that came out today please.”

Michael: “Just one moment Ms. V.”

typing…typing…pause…typing…pause…cough…typing…pause…

Michael: “Okay Ms. V, you’re all set.”





WHAT?!?!?!




“Um, okay, is ‘all set’ Disney-speak for ‘we’re giving you a discount?”
Michael: “Yes ma’am, I’ve applied the discount to your reservation.”
“Oh wow! Okay. So um, can you tell me what that new rate is please?”


And then, I can’t remember a thing. It was only later, when I was washing the blood off my hands…

Sorry. I seem to have lapsed into a little Chicago dialogue there.



But I was stunned. By my quick and Fuzzy mental calculations, I’d just saved nearly $100 per night!



I did ask “Michael” to check on discounted Tower rates… but they came in at $10 more than the non-discounted Garden Wing rate.* No go.

*Fuzzy math works in terms of relativity. You don’t compare apples to apples in Fuzzy Math; you compare apples to elephants. It matters not that the discounted Tower rate is heaps less than the non-discounted Tower rate. Everything is based off your original reservation amount in Fuzzy Disney Math. TFI.




So just like that, with a five-minute phone call, I managed to keep Leo and I in our Standard View Garden Wing room for three nights for a savings of $300ish! Anyone else notice how easy things are moving now that I’m back at SSR for the rest of the trip? Like it was all meant to be.
