My DS was invited to a party recently where the bday child asked for donations to "Birthday Wishes" It is a charity that helps bring birthday's to children that are homeless.
The invitation stated some items that organization is always looking for and then listed the website if you wanted some more ideas.
I thought it was great. The party invitation was for my youngest but included siblings so my 9 year old and 5 year old went with me to the store and we bought gift wrap, gift bags, paper plates etc and she loved it.
All my children learned a little something that day because my oldest children had never really gave it any thought about homeless children missing out on birthday parties.
I thought it was a really sweet idea and I am sure the bday child still received many gifts from family and close friends.
