Donald's Safari Breakfast - photos

We have a reservation for Donald's Safari Breakfast at the Tusker House, which we've never eaten at before. I understand that they take your photo on the way in, and then try to sell it to you. Is this on the photopass system? Can you also have them take the same photo with your own camera, or is that a no-no? Are the photos any good?

You can only use the Photopass photographer (at least that was the policy 2+ years ago) similary to Chef Mickey's "Plate" backdrop.

The picture was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it taken there again.

They take your picture on the way in but when they sell it to you, it only comes in a set of pictures. I don't remember the price but DH and I said there is no way we would pay that much. If they sold one picture for $10-$15, we would have been more apt to purchase one.

We ate there last September. I don't remember the exact cost of the photo, but I know it was way over priced. I did ask the photopass photographer to take our picture with my camera too, and they did with no problem.

We did not buy it either, they came to our table with the picture, I think it was around $18-20 or so. We did buy the photopass CD but we could not put it on the CD.

The pictures were beautiful when we went a couple weeks ago, but the cost was over $30! We passed (and I have a hard time passing on cute pics of my DD). I was able to take the same pic with my own camera when DD was posing with Donald. It would have been a great pic, but the sun was just coming over the roof and that affected it. But you can surely snap away -- I don't know if the CMs will take a pic with your camera or not, but it never hurts to ask!

We ate breakfast there a few weeks back and the CM took our pic for the package and also took one with my camera. They do offer to sell you the package and it is $36 if I remember correctly. you'd think i would remember since I actually broke down and bought the pkg because the pic was absolutely adorable... 9I would have normally never purchased it, however the pic the CM took was almost identical with the exception my DS 4 was scatching his face in the pic with my camera! Uggghhhh.... such is my luck!)
Also, the pic on our way in is with Donald only... he did not make an appearance inside while we dined, however we got tableside pics w/ Goofy, Daisy and Mickey that were adorable.... and taken w/ my camera therefore FREE!!!!

I guess the trick is to have your own camera ready and if it's a good photo you probably won't need the package
