Donald's Safari Bkfast ... would you go back???

If you have a pre-purchased photo pass cd is the photo with Donald included or do you have to purchase this separate?

I'd say yes. The food was pretty decent (for a breakfast buffet) and it has the added advantage, with an 8 AM reservation, of putting you in the park right at the entrance to the Safari at park opening.

Of course, we prefer going with DxDP, so we're doing character breakfasts most days. If I were paying OOP, I don't think I'd be as keen...

Edit: As for the question about other character breakfasts, we will certainly do Crystal Palace again (best food, in my opinion, of any of the breakfast buffets). Chef Mickey's is a likely probability. H&V would depend on whether or not the kids are still into those shows -- the good news is that it's relatively low-demand, so it's not crowded and easy to book. Akerhaus... I like in theory, and the food is OK, but I prefer pre-open breakfasts and at least when we were there, they didn't start seating until 30 minutes before park opening, causing us to miss a lot of quality early morning park time.

Yep- we loved it- the food was good, and the characters were so cute in the safari gear.

We thought is was so-so. The meal felt very rushed and the food was fair. It is very crowded with minimal space between the tables and the character interactions were only mediocre. We really enjoyed the CP for breakfast, better food, calmer environment, better character time and interactions.

Even though you've prepurchased the photopass, you will still need to purchase the photos with Donald separately. If you do purchase them, they will give you a ticket with barcodes. Take those to any photopass area (where you can check your photos), and they will add the pictures to your photopass.

We did every character meal you can do on the last trip, with the exception of 1900 Park Fare, and of all of those Tusker House is the only one that we chose to do again. :thumbsup2 I think that says a lot.

As for the people saying that the interactions are rushed, honestly, the only place that they weren't rushed was Cape May. Everywhere else, it was just about the same. To be fair though, at Crystal Palace they did all come around twice, but it was much more of a zoo in the sense that people kept having their children run around and stalk the characters, even when they were trying to divide their attention equally.

My only suggestion though, with TH, aside from getting the earliest reservation you can get there, is to insist on being seated in the main dining room, the larger one. We were seated in a side room closer to the bathrooms and it was rather loud and cramped in there. The main room looked a little more comfy in that sense.

And, just for the record, Donald does indeed come in from outside and come to your table. I have the pics to prove it. And of the photo package pictures that you take outside (Ohana, Akershus, Tusker House, and Chef Mickey), none of them were included with my pre-ordered photopass, they were all extra. If you eat at Cinderella's Royal Table, your pic with Cindy is included in your breakfast cost, that is why it is so pricey. All other places were around $30 for the package and Ohana is just a pic of you in lei's, no characters. It was similar at Chef Mickey's were your pic is of you and a small statue of the Mouse.

Our family has now tried almost every character meal on property, and this one is probably our favorite. Both of my girls (DD7 and DD4) always ask to go back here for every trip. The food is good, the characters are fun, and it is really great to get into the park early on a non-EMH day. My girls love the "parade" around the restaurant with the characters!

Quality of food here was wonderful! Very yummy and had some different choices than the standard fare. Character interaction here was the worst we've experienced at any character meal and we've done quite a few. Since the characters aren't much of a draw anymore for my boys since they're older we would still go because of the yummy food.

I actually booked this today...we leave in just under 2 weeks. I had to switch some things around, and had booked Chef Mickey's, but it just won't work out.

We ate at the Breakfastasaurus many years ago and didn't particularly care for it....and we've never eaten breakfast at Chef Mickey's.

Do you think Tusker House is better than the Breakfastasaurus was? And how does it rate with Chef Mickey's? Did I make the right decision?

ETA: The kids are all about the food now, not the characters. Character interaction is not a big deal for us.

Must? do they feed you to the lions if you don't?
i want to eat breakfast there, not be breakfast

You aren't required to buy the pics, no worries. The do come around and show you your pic though, you don't see it as soon as it is taken. Clever Disney folks, it makes it much harder to say no when the pic is cute.

One thing I forgot to mention regarding the picture with Donald--when we were there, a CM (not the Photopass Photog) was kind enough to take a picture of us with our camera as well. I saw several others doing it ahead of us so I asked when we got up there. The picture turned out great! And I didn't have to spend the extra money....

Just like it reads .. would you go back to Donald's Safari Breakfast again? We are trying to decide if this would be a good character meal for our boys (ages 8, 6 and 4). Let me know what you think:) Thanks!

It is one of our favorites. It is rushed but not as rushed as CM.

JMO but the food is the best there. :lovestruc

We didn't have a great experience there and probably will not go back.

The food was quite fair, and the atmosphere was pretty chaotic. The character interaction wasn't terrific. I know that it is always harder for interaction with characters that are unable to talk, but they were pretty much all business.

My kids didn't really enjoy themselves. For us that's what it comes down to -why else would you want to sit through okay food in a buffet!

For those of you who have been recently, does Donald sign autographs at all? Or will we still have to track him down in the parks even though we're going to his breakfast?

my opinion and we have went twice on two different vacations is that breakfast here takes up a good deal of the morning touring time. Everytime we had to wait an hour to hr and half after our reservation time to be seated. Never will go again. See all the good reviews here? there will be droves of people waiting for breakfast if you go in the summertime.

We have been there 3 times for breakfast, and each time we only had to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated, and our trips were late May and early June. I think the key to any of the in-park character breakfasts is to make the very first available reservation in the morning, and to go on a non-EMH morning. If you do that, you can make a reservation for about an hour before the park actually opens. Each time, we have been able to get in, have breakfast, see all the characters and be among the first in line for the Safari ride because we were all the way in the back of the park for rope drop! Early morning touring is very important, IMO, so I rarely plan a breakfast that takes time away from that!
