Is this restaurant really that bad? Have some some bad reviews for it s not sure whether to chance it as a late breakfast on our first day.

What other characters are there?

Thanks

It was our favorite from our first trip down there. Now, it's become a "must-do" for every trip we take. I thought the buffet was wonderful. A lot of choices for my kids too, they are picky breakfast eaters. With them, it's hit or miss as to what they'll eat on a certain morning. We had a lot of character interaction, I think they came around to the table at least 3 times!! We bought the picture package they offered, and loved the way they turned out. We're taking my MIL on this trip, and of course, can't wait for her to eat here with us! We're looking forward to a great breakfast again.

We ran into Donald, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and if memory serves me right, Daisy was there. I can't remember if Minnie was there, but I don't think she was.

My kids really like this one. DH and I, not so much. The kids love the theming, which is really cool - like you're in a bunker from Jurassic Park (they're only 6 and 8, so they haven't seen it, but still like the atmosphere). I find it very loud and chaotic in there. It is very large and divided into several smallish rooms, so you cannot see your table from the buffet (unlike other character restaurants) so you have to plan trips to the buffet carefully so as not to miss when the characters come around. I didn't love the food either. The food wasn't horrible, but there weren't as many choices as Crystal Palace and CM.

I know other folks really enjoy it here, it's just not my thing, but as it's the only character meal at AKL, we'll probably eat there again this year, it's just the place I'm least looking forward to :)

When I went there with just my girlfriend, neither of us liked it, at least compared to Chef Mickey's. I thought the theming was more like a camp type atmosphere. Lots of character interaction though, so now that we have 3 kids it could be enjoyable for them.

So bottom line, I'm in agreement that it is probably more enjoyable for the family if you have kids than it would be when going with just adults.

We liked it. Its a lot more quiet than CM, and not as crazy. There is not as much food selection, but what was there was very good. Kind of hard to mess up breakfast food.

The characters were not in as big a hurry as CM, which was nice.

Donald was very funny. He signed his name donald #1

We've been doing Donald's since our first trip in 2000 when our son was 6.

When I started doing the ADR planning for our June trip he reminded me not to forget Donald's. It still his favorite and he's now 13.

Donald's is my DGF's favorite! It is a must do for us and we are 25 yrs old!

one of my 2 least favorite character dining experiences i've done so far. Daisy is no longer a regular as far as I know.

I like Donalds only if we get there before the park opens. Otherwise we hate to waste time on a TS meal when we can be in the park.

We like the food, there are quite a few hot and cold choices.

The characters are great!

We have been 3 times, and twice we've had bad service. The first time we shrugged it off. The second time we had awesome service. The third time (I think this was the same lady server again actually) I complained upon leaving. We were ignored, and that is a tough thing in the a.m. with a coffee drinker and an empty cup. Only until the entire place was emptied of customers did we get our check. I was steaming, and the poor guy I vented to heard me loud and clear. Seriously, we waited for over a half hour for the check and/or coffee even asking another server to say "just a minute...." but no response. Our server was passing us lots and lots of times, just to ignore us.

Anyhoo, we are trying it again in Sept. so maybe I can get them to leave me a thermos this time....

LOVE IT!!! I have boys and they were thrilled to finally have a character breakfast that was not oozing with princesses!! The character interaction is always fun and the food is GREAT! We have our 3rd visit scheduled in August.

My DW and I personally like CM a lot better. I am not sure what it is, the food was good and we got to see all of the characters, but it is no CM for us. It is definitely a different atmposphere and that may be good or bad for you!

When we visited back in July '05, this was very good. We went early before the park opened and you can get early entrance. We liked it better than Ohana, but there we had a bad waitress.

Good Food! Mickey, Donald and Goofy. Visited and plenty of pictures. Wait was a little long even with our ADR's.

If you are going to AK that day and looking for b'fast, make an ADR and enjoy.

This is our least favorite of all the character meals. We had the first seating before park opening. Hostesses took us to our table (several different parties at once) and told us not to leave the tables to get food yet, as the characters were coming then! The did come, in VERY quick succession. We never saw them again after that. The food was decent, but the character interaction left a lot to be desired. Much more fun at CM, CP, or Garden Grille to name a few!

Definitely a good choice. Dined there Sept 2005, had an 0830am ADR on a non early entry day. Everything was great, the trek to the restaurant was nice as it was still a bit cool and there was virtually no one else there (on the walk that is). The food was good and fresh, as I guess it would be if they just opened at 0810 or so. Our waiter was great and the character interaction was just fine. :)

We really liked it there. There was Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey. It seemed like there was more interaction with the characters than at other places. They got around quickly, but it wasn't a huge distraction to our breakfast. We are going back 2 times our next trip because we liked it so much. Plus we love breakfast food!

We've been there twice and had a good time each time. The food is fairly good for a buffet, the characters are the classic ones and the waitstaff is quite entertaining. We'll prolly go back in August again. Have fun, Sean

Donald's if my favorite character meal. I have to do once every trip. There is a lot of interaction with Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Donald and they always seem to have plenty of time for lots of pictures. The food is hot and fresh and very yummy. I say Donald's is a great choice :thumbsup2

In 2005 my teenage daughter and I had breakfast at Donald's. We both enjoyed it and have ADR for our return trip in August.;)

<--- Guess what? I loved it. Of course anything Donald. I thought the food was great, our server was amazing, and as two adults, we enjoyed the character interaction a lot.

I'm glad someone posted this question as we just added this onto our ADRs. We have an 8 am seating on nonEMH morning day. We are hoping to have a good breakfast with the characters and still be further in the park when it officially opens so we can get to EE quickly. Has anyone done this and is this a reasonable hope?
