Donald's Breakfast Grrrr!

He did not come in during our meal last year and he was not signing autographs out front...in fact, his handler was quite rude about it as he snapped at people to find Donald at Camp Minnie Mickey later in the day and to keep the line moving.

I was there in November and he did not come inside. I think I read that they had changed it where he is only outside now. Can someone confirm this??

We went to the TH breakfast in September 2010. We got to TH around 8:15 am (we had ADRs for 8:05, but thanks to a longer wait at the TTC it took a little longer for us to get there). That day and that time, Donald was only outside - he did not come inside the restaurant. We declined the picture package - we knew we were not going to buy it. The food was very good, but the place was packed; this is indeed a popular restaurant. We also declined to take the pic at 1900 PF.

We've done Akershus twice. The cost of that meal is higher, but it does include the pic with Belle, making it a good value. Besides Akershus, CRT is the only other meal that includes the pictures. HTH!

When I went to Tusker house they wer e having issues outside and weren't ready on time and had most of the pictures done without Donald out front so he did come around to everyone.

Sure, the pics are included at Cindy's Royal Table -it is a two TS meal. All the other meals we attended, pics were extra. At Chef Mickey's, we had lots of time with the characters at breakfast. What a shame you didn't.

We got the pics free from CRT and Arkeshus.

My mom bought the pic at Ohana breakfast too because with some members of the family being grumpy and others (me, DH, and my neices) actually wanting to DO something at disney world besides stand and talk about what to do (seriously your in Epcot at the WS, why do you need to have a "next thing to do" pick a direction and walk, when you see something cool look at it.) we were rarely all in the same place so it was the only picture of all 9 people together.

i believe i read on here that you can take a pic of the receipt w/the number and even if you don't buy the pic at the meal, you can get it on your photopass...

Is it the one they give you when you check in for the meal, or on something when they show you the pics at the table? DH would be embarrased if I took a pic of the pic with the photo person at the table, but probably wouldn't give me a hard time if I just took a pic of the receipt while on line. We always prebuy the photopass, then drop too much $ on the extra pictures at these meals. Would love it to be like BBB, where we have access to the pics in the account.

So the photos at the character meals are NOT included in the photopass CD??? That would be a huge bummer!! I was hoping that every picture that a "professional photographer" took while at WDW would be included in your photopass!! :confused3

Yes and No. They are not automatically included in the photopass; however, they *are* included if you BUY the package. If you buy the package they bring around to your table, then you can get them added to your photopass CD.

Personally speaking, I really hate these packages. I'll take my own camera, thank you, and take my own pics. I can take a half dozen pics in just a few seconds and I'll usually get a better image than the CM will.

We never stop for those pictures when you enter any of these place cause we dont want to buy the package. So I dont bother with the picture. Last time we were at Planet Hollywood the girl almost pulled me back to take the picture. I told her to let go of me because I had no interest in posing for a picture that I dont intend to purchase.

My understanding was that the code is on the receipt for the picture or on the actual picture so I don't think you can get the code to add it to photopass without buying the picture. We didn't buy any of the pictures but we got our best family pictures going into CM's and TH. The photographer will use your camera to take a picture too. We actually liked our picture at TH better than the one they tried to sell us.

It is the receipt for the photos, not your meal, and I'm pretty sure the CMs are on to it, so I wouldn't try that, imo.

Also, the photos at CRT and Akershus are included in the price of your meal.

Any meal pictures that you pay for or are included in your meal can be put on photopass.

OP, sorry you were disappointed, I think the Donald photo op has been like that for a while now.

i read it here, have not tried it... it's on the photo receipt, but typically when we get the photo, we ask to be given a few minutes to peruse it, pass it around and then decide... that's when you would take the pic, not w/the CM standing there (presumably)...

Another issue w/ buying the photos (especially at a breakfast character meal) is that you now have to carry it around with you all day and not ruin it. It's a pita. And, $30 is ridiculous when you are already paying so much for breakfast and for the photopass cd.

We didn't realize it would be so much $$ the first time we went there and the picture came out so cute that we had to buy it. This trip I will be ready with my own DSLR in hand for the CM to take our pic w/ Donald.

Donald stopped going to tables exactly one year ago (third week of March/10). They did a test run at Chef Mickey's with Mickey outside as well, and it literally lasted 2 days, I believe? Donald, unfortunately, has been outside for 1 year now.

Sorry, the OP didn't seem to have a great experience. Sadly, this is how most character meals are nowadays. Pack guests in, serve yucky food, offer subpar service, and then charge a mint for the privilege of dining with characters.

Donald does, indeed, come inside, I have pics both inside and out with him. He just doesn't come in and constantly mingle.

The $30 pictures scam is the same at every character meal, not just Tusker House. At least there you get your picture with actual "live" Donald. At Chef Mickey's they take your pic in front of a Mickey statue. Now THAT is offensive to me.

You don't even get a statue at 1900 PF. That's the only picture that I really minded. (I also don't pre-pay for photopass since we hardly ever get many anyway.)

Just FYI--If it rains they take your picture without Donald and he does come inside instead. The code to put the picture on your photopass is along the edge of the biggest picture but you'd have to take the big one out of the frame and they usually don't leave it with you if you want to think about it. I bought ours last year but not this year and there were actually 4 different pictures on our photopass when I entered the number.

You don't have to buy the picture and I always ask teh CM to take a pic with my camera and they always do.

Same here! The last few times I've been there (September '09 and April last year) Donald was only outside (the weather was nice so I don't know what they do in the rain). The CM's working on both occasions offered to take pictures with my camera at the same time as the professional photographer when we posed. We didn't buy the professional photos either time but had a great meal and a great time!

we always skip getting our picture taken at the restaurants. they all want $30+ for it. Not worth it at all. We have had our pic multiple times with Donald inside. As for an unattentive waiter/ess.. just pile your plates on a nearby table if there is one and flag someone elses waiter down for some refills... they'll figure out the problem b/c they wont want to take your table.. well mabye

Good to know about the rain! Thanks for sharing that.

Have you had your photo taken with Donald since end of March 2010? Donald has been outside since that point, except for rain days, as mentioned above.

We ate there last week on March 22nd with a 8am reservation, I had heard you can skip that whole line for the photo in the beginning, which we did and got immediately seated. Donald did come by later on in the restaurant. I too, did not have a great server, she was not very nice, no smile or anything.

So, are you saying Donald did table rotation visits like he used to do? Was it a rain day?

Important to clarify, as there is conflicting info on this thread, Tiger
