Don't know why but my 5 yr old loves playing in Donald's boat in Toon town, followed by a face painting of course.

We were there 4 years ago when the boat was wet and it was a blast for the kids. Last year it was dry... what a bore!

Donald's Boat and Ariel's Grotto - dry as a bone - some posts suggest due to drought in Central Florida but I wonder if it is intentional on Disney's part that these are dry now.

:(

Thanks

Can someone explain what makes it "wet" or "dry"? I guess we have only seen it dry. Last time we were there it was christmas and there were trees and stuff around it.

When it was wet... there were water jets that spurted water out of the ground and inside was a rope you could pull that rang a bell and dumped some water. I think there were some other water features but can't remember exactly what. I do remember both my kids getting soaked and loving it!:D

I think if it was wet- a lot more children would enjoy it!
For our experience- the kids weren't interested in it AT ALL. However they had a blast at the place in US that is similar to that (George's area or something like that?) They should make it wet again!

we have been the last 2 years and both places have been dry - seem's odd to me as there are plenty of wet places in the other parks (certainly in Epcot), and they are both extremely boring dry.

It really does seem pointless without the water. If they aren't going to turn the water back on, (which doesn't seem likely) maybe they could redesign it to make it more fun.

The last few times I have been to MK Donald's Boat and Ariel's Grotto have both been dry. It was in the off season so I was curious if they have water now.

It seems odd that the Disney website describes both of these as water attractions, never lists them under rehab, but (by the sounds of the other post) they haven't operated as designed for years.

I agree. If they aren't going to turn the water back on, it would really make more sense to redesign it to be more fun.

Dixie Luvr 98 ~ I just have to ask. What area in WV are you from? I'm originally from WV myself, and your picture of the marching band reminds me of a picture that I have of my sister marching in WDW.

Saw a post here a few weeks ago that MCO told a guest Donald's boat was "dry" due to an injury.....

We were at MK two weeks ago and both Donald's Boat and Aerial's Grotto were dry. So we just skipped both of them. In several older guidebooks I read reports about how much small children loved these two things.

I imagine that injuries make these attractions a huge liability, but I wish they would rehab them to make them safer or come up with some other water attraction that kids could play on. My 3 year old loved the play areas in the park (Mickey's Toontown, Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground in MGM, the AK Boneyard). It would be nice to have a wet attraction such as those.

I wonder if it is liability - they have the HISTK playground at MGM and the fountains to dance in at Epcot....I speculate but think it has something to do with staffing - maybe they need to staff these attractions if they are wet. Some have also said they are dry due to the drought (current or past)

Time to refurb and use the space or make them wet again!!!

Thanks

Anyone know if they are still dry? They aren't in the list of refurbishments. We were there 2 years ago and they were dry then. I certainly hope they still aren't what a bummer.

I too was told by a CM (a friend) That both attractions were dry due to an injury. And that they would not be reactivated. And JAysue is correct, both were dry in May. The boat used to be one of my kids fave attractions. My now 16 year old DD. used to love it, Said what do you mean its dry whats the point? A CM standing by, said well It is also dry across the street at Mickey and Minnie's houses! So as far as the boat, I guess thats the ideology, its part of the street!

awwww--that is a shame :(

was looking forward to them as a surprise for my little ones

We were there yesterday and they were dry--I didn't know Donald's boat was "supposed" to be wet; that explains a lot! When we were there I was thinking, "what a boring attraction!" Water would have made it lots of fun.
