Has anyone sent there child to this camp? My son LOVES basketball and this is a camp that is here locally for 1 week during the summer. Any opinions?

Thanks!

I don't know about the Don Eddy Camps specifically but my experience with basketball camps having coached the game for 20+ years is that often the 'big name' camps are so full that the kids get very little one on one time with coaches and only the top athletes there get much attention at all. They are used for recruiting purposes and at the D1 level, most kids aren't going to be looked at.

The best camps I have found have been at the DIII college level. They keep their enrollment down to a manageable level, have a lot of small group time with coaches, etc. While they are also looking for potential players, their main focus is to teach the game. I would see if there is anything like this in your area.

Golfgal, where do you coach?

mommyto3, how old is your son? I'm not familiar with Don Eddy either. He must not get out to Minnesota! My younger three kids have all attended several basketball camps. I've found that with basketball camps, you don't always get what you pay for. I don't know that they have ever been to a "bad" camp, but just because a camp is really expensive, don't assume it's going to be a lot better than something you might find at a local high school. I think that's especially for younger kids.
