Don’t tell MM! It’s NOT a bug’s life! A dolphin’s WHAT? The ER? Is that a body?

As soon as I saw your user name I knew I had to read this report. Hello from Louisiana and a big Saints Fan too.

Your pictures are beautiful and I'm loving the report. I'm coming along to read the rest of your journey.

Just catching up on reading your TR.....

I LOVE the mime at Sea World. I am in total agreement that he could have a show of his own. He's totally entertaining!

Two visits to the First Aid....okay so you only made it one time.....and the ER in the future? Sounds like a tough trip!

Wow - those birds are amazing! I'm not sure if I could talk Denny into swimming with the dolphins. He never learned to swim well and he is a little water phobic, but I think he would love the birds.

That future area sounds pretty cool, too!
Tell Denny to rest easy. Not only do they have flotation devices for anyone not an olympic swimmer but they ask if anyone would rather do the dolphin swim in shallow water. One in our group did this and they asked in a very non-judgemental way.

Discovery Cove sounds wonderful! Your family looked like they really enjoyed the time there!

I was looking at the DC website, the rainforest area looks like it will be really cook, but I don't know if I could enjoy it while worrying for snakes. It just seems like the perfect area for them to hide out. I wonder if they'll put up a sign? :rotfl:

Your poor daughter-in-law and that dolphin! That would have been so embarrassing! She seems like she's a good sport though and that you all got a good laugh.
I guess there could be snakes there but there is so much traffic, I doubt they come out during the day. DDiL took it like a champ and we all, her included, got a good laugh out of it.

OK, time to pick up your stipend from Sea World for promoting Discovery Cove. I'm sold! Sounds like a simply amazing experience.

I'm hoping the Freshwater otter experience has the critters behind glass. I would hate to read a future installment about you encountering man-eating otters.

We stayed at a resort in Jamaica that had an onsite aviary with tropical birds that would land on you as you fed them. It was majorly cool!

Speaking of cool- yes, snow really does exist and I don't think it is exactly what you encountered on Main Street.

With sincere apologies to Forrest Gump- winter in New England is like a box of chocolates- you never know what you are going to get.

Two winters ago we were nailed with 1-2 storms every week from Christmas through mid-February. This past winter, the only school cancellation we had was due to a snowstorm on Halloween.
You would think SW/DC would pay me, wouldn't you? :confused3

Actually we have had a bit of snow down here the past few years. But what we call snow might be a bit different than yours. Ours is wet and mushy and because it never stays cold for more than a few days, it melts quickly. We did have drifts at my house a few years back of about 2' but it was very spotty where it was that much. The road crews are ill-prepared for any type of snow so 1/4" shuts down the schools!

Welcome neighbor! I can't wait for the season to start. For only the 2nd time since 1967, I'm going to miss a Saints game this year. The first time was in 1987 when DD was born and this year I will miss the regular season opener vs Washington because DW and I will be flying back from Aulani. Don't you feel sorry for me? :lmao:

Thanks for the kind words about the TR. Pull up a chair because it ain't over yet!

Thanks for joining in. I agree, the mime was hilarious. The trip (or not) to the ER segment of the TR is coming up soon, so hang on!

Even though we have had a full day, it’s not over yet! DC closes at 5:30 so we were back at our room with plenty of time to clean up and find something to do. There were no plans for tonight. See? I’m winging it again! Woohoo!

DS and DDiL go back to their room and head out to DTD. They ate at Earl of Sandwich and really enjoyed it. It’s another restaurant on my bucket list to try one day!

DD, DDfi, DW and myself also made our way to DTD since my trip earlier was cut short by a bug! Before we left, we got online and made ADR’s at Portobello’s. There was no particular reason for picking this place other than they took TIW and we were able to get a reservation. I made sure to take my sunglasses with me to prevent another dive bomb attack by those sight-seeking bug missles!

This is a terrible picture but I want to ride this one day.

P1000132.jpg

We get to Portobello’s and a large group had just been seated but our wait was minimal. We ordered the calamari rings and roasted garlic for our appetizers

P1000258.jpg

DDfi had the Quattro Formaggi (four cheese) pizza with sausage added

P1000259.jpg

And here is where the food porn pics ended. I don’t know why but the rest of the pics I took during our meal were too dark to make out anything. Maybe it was my bad bug-eye acting up? Maybe it was the debilitating pain from the shark bite? Maybe it was the bottle of Le Rime Pinot Grigio we ordered? Who knows why these things happen? The TR picture gods were not smiling on me that night.

To complete our order, DD ordered a Caesar Salad, DW had the grilled fish of the day and I had rigatoni calabrese with a side of marinara sauce. It’s a good thing I had the marinara sauce. DDfi’s pizza had no sauce at all so he added the marinara sauce. No dessert this meal. See how handy the TIW is when ordering an appetizer and an adult beverage?

The meal was good but not great. I would eat there again but only after I have exhausted many of the other restaurants I have yet to try.

We walked down to Disney Quest so DDfi and DD can get the details on this place. For those that don’t know, DQ is called an indoor interactive theme park but it is really a frickin’ humongous 5 story game room/arcade. There are the old favorites like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong but there are also 3D, virtual reality whiz bang electronic masterpieces. You can even design your own ride at CyberSpace Mountain and then enter a simulator and ride your creation! For $44 (plus tax) you get a one day pass to spend as long as you like in this gamer’s delight. I don’t know about you but I’ve seen kids blow through $44 in a few hours at the mall’s arcade and it’s nothing compared to this place. If you can, go during the week because they’re usually running a discounted admission after 5:00pm.

While the two youngsters were finding out the cost and details, DW and I were waiting outside. There is a huge LCD screen on the side of the building at DQ. It is so bright, I had to turn away. The House of Blues is directly across from DQ. DD and DDfi have ADR’s there on Thursday so I took a picture of them in front of the restaurant once they returned from their fact finding mission.

P1000260.jpg

The glare from the LCD screen distorted the picture it was so bright. DW has migraines and coupled with the long day, the strobe-like flashing of the screen triggered one. It was time to go…NOW! Those of you that have migraines know that bright light and noise are your enemy so off we go back to VWL.

By the time we return to our room, the migraine is in high gear. Everyone is dog-tired from the full day anyhow so off to bed we go…or so I thought.

DW took her migraine medication but it was too late. Once these things kick in, there is little relief. Before long, as expected, the severe pain causes nausea which leads to…you guessed it…praying to the porcelain god. In her case, she usually gets dehydrated from all this “praying” and if she cannot stop it on her own, it means a trip to the ER for high-powered pain medication and possibly an IV for fluids. We’ve been married for nearly 30 years so I know the drill. I start looking for directions to an ER – hence the part of the TR title – where’s the ER?

Being the planner that I am, I already had the nearest urgent care facility keyed into my cellphone. (See, planning is not always a bad thing!) BTW, it is Centra Care and it’s located near DTD at 12500 South Apopka Vineland Road and the phone number is (407) 934-2273. I was dressed, ready to go and about to go get the vehicle when DW finally stopped “praying” about 3:30am. She wanted to wait before we left to see if things had stopped escalating. I know the drill for this as well. Non-stop supply of cool wash towels for her head, no noise, leave her alone, don’t talk to her, maybe an ice chip or two.

The migraine medication (FYI-Imitrex and phenergan) finally started to work and she settled in. These things are such a drain because of the intense pain (probably more than my vicious shark bite…maybe) that once you get it under control, you are down for the count. That is the best thing too – go to sleep and hope there’s not a rebound migraine later on.

Now that she’s asleep, what’s going to happen tomorrow? We are supposed to go to Universal Islands of Adventure primarily for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Will she be well enough? Does she get a rebound migraine and unable to shake this one, does she end up in the ER after all? What will DD, DDfi, DS and DDiL do and say when they find out about what transpired tonight?

Tick tock, tick tock…only time will tell. Join us tomorrow and we shall see.

We ate at the Portabello a couple of times on our first visits to the World back in the 80s. We enjoyed it, mostly that they brought the roasted garlic with the bread before the meal. First time we had ever tried that.

So sorry to hear about your wife's migraine. Bad enough when it happens at home, but when you are away, on vacation, with a big day coming up... That just s*cks!

Speaking of migraines, your wife should stay far away from the inside of DQ- that is headache central! One afternoon we went to both DQ and T-Rex- talk about over-stimulation!

Those dolphins are absolutely gorgeous! I'm jealous! We really need to do this someday...

Your bird pictures are great, but I'm glad I'm just looking and not participating. Birds terrify me!

Oh no! Your poor wife. :( I get migraines too, terrible ones, and I know how they can ruin your day. Or week. UGHHH...I hope she felt better the next day!

Yup....ailments and illnesses are bad enough at home but on vacation is not the most opportune time...as if you can control the time! :sad2:

We expected DC to be really nice but it surpassed our expectations. It is the only place outside of WDW that we have been that even remotely commpares to WDW.

Stay tuned to see how the next day went.

Day 5 – 5/23/12 – Wednesday

Today was supposed to be our day to go to Universal Islands of Adventure and see Harry Potter. As you have read earlier, those plans have been seriously interrupted. DW is finally sound asleep so the rest of us try to figure out what to do. Our children have been down this road before with DW’s migraines so the situation is not new. I purchased the IoA admission tickets online from UndercoverTourist and the Kennedy Space Center admission tickets online direct from KSC. I don’t want them to go to waste. I ask everyone what is their preference of the two remaining planned excursions. DD and DDfi were looking forward to IoA and the WWoHP. DS and DDiL were looking forward to the trip to Kennedy Space Center. Sighhhhh. I would have let them use my vehicle to go to IoA today but I need to keep it with me in case there is a relapse with DW and we need to get to the ER. I suggest they take a shuttle to IoA but they called and it was going to be almost $100! We go back and forth with our options with each couple having their preferences. DS and DDiL are flying back on Friday so unless we/they do something today, they will miss out on one of the adventures. Both couples had been planning on going to Disney Quest at DTD after we returned tonight from IoA. Ding! So I suggested that they each do what they want today. They can take the bus to DTD to Disney Quest plus DDiL wanted to get some gifts for her family. They all wanted to visit the pool more as well so it looks like we’ve decided. See folks, I can wing it; I can go with the flow; I can wait until the last minute to decide things! Well…it was everyone else but I was still involved!

While the “kids” did their thing today, I took the time to gather my thoughts for this TR thus far and rest and recoup from that horrific shark bite. I think gathering my thoughts was more strenuous and taxing than the recovery process. I watched Stacey on TV and it just made me want to go to the parks even more, if that is possible. I uploaded my pictures from my cameras (718 pics so far). Don’t you just love digital cameras? Can you just imagine how many rolls of film I would have and how much it would cost if we were still taking pictures that way?!?!? Around 3:00pm, my darling DW awoke from the dead! Woohoo!! She’s still “head-achy” but upright and somewhat mobile so this is a very good sign. My food intake for the day has been what we had in the room – mainly snacks and fruit. I wasn’t going to leave the room until she woke up and got to this point. I ask her if she would like something to eat (hoping and praying she would say yes – lack of REAL food has slowed my healing process from the life scaring shark attack yesterday) and she said yes!! Double Woohoo!! We decided to go to the CS restaurant at WL – Roaring Forks. We got as far as the elevator and DW turned around. She was still too weak. Back to the room we go. I got online and looked up what Roaring Forks had to eat, made our decision and left to grab something to eat. It’s a LONG walk from VWL to WL to Roaring Forks – especially when you have a wounded leg but I prevailed and make the arduous trek there and back. Ahhhh food…mmmm…and no pics because it was gone before I even thought about it! It was all a blur. From the receipts I have, it appears we had two bacon-cheese burgers with sides of fries and cucumber salad. I don’t know how much of it was my weakened condition or just good food but there was nothing left and DW ate very little.

As you can see, this day was uneventful – an oddity of sorts for this clan but that’s okay. DS/DDiL and DD/DDfi checked in with us a couple of times during the day to make sure we were okay. They went at separate times but they all really enjoyed Disney Quest. They spent several hours there each. They went to the pool. They shopped. All in all, they had a nice day.

By the time all the chickens have returned to the roost, DW is feeling better. We watch the American Idol final while trying to figure out what to do the next two days. Side note here – can you believe Phillip Phillips won? He looks like his stomach is cramping when he sings! Naturally, I was biased for the girl from Mississippi – Skylar Laine. Oh well, at least she made it as far as she did. Back to the plans - we decide to go to KSC tomorrow and then IoA Friday. DS and DDiL will miss Harry Potter and have to get DME to the airport instead of me taking them but they are okay with that. Going to KSC tomorrow instead of IoA will mean less sun and walking for DW. We’ll take it easy tomorrow or at least that is the plan. You know what they say about plans – “The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men /
Gang aft agley” or the English version “The best laid plans of mice and men go often awry”. A lot of people think that is from Shakespeare but it is actually from the Scottish poet Robert Burns in “To a Mouse…”. Well then, Mouse, it’s time for some pixie dust so see what you can do with those fairies about getting everyone well!

Side note here – can you believe Phillip Phillips won? He looks like his stomach is cramping when he sings! Naturally, I was biased for the girl from Mississippi – Skylar Laine. Oh well, at least she made it as far as she did.

NO! WTH???? I decided I am not watching anymore because I am tired of guys winning. RE: the stomach pain - He had legit, big kidney stones and refused to have surgery during the competition, so I'll give him kudos for that. But I wanted Holly Cavanagh to win. She is my favorite idol of all time. I think she is SO talented and still has a lot of untapped potential.

But back to your TR - Your poor wife. OMG! What a trooper, being that sick and not going to the ER for IV fluids. I can't imagine what it's like to have a head ache that bad. Geeze - I can't even stand my caffeine withdrawal headaches.

So sorry that your plans got ruined, but what can you do? I hope your DW was able to tour the next day and I hope the kids had a good day going their different ways.

I really have to try Portabello one of these days. It looks cool, but it sounds like its usually just an OK meal.

We were pulling for Holly too. DW, DD and I were texting and voting online for her and the home-town girl. I guess I'd never make it as a music mogul because I disagree with the judges comments all the time. I'm beginning to think "pitchy" is the music critics version of a doctor saying "stress". They don't know what to call it so it becomes a catchall answer!

She is a trooper, especially on vacations. She would be very upset if she caused others to ruin their vacation. Now if I could have gotten as much sympathy when that man-eating shark tried to take my leg off...

I really have to try Portabello one of these days. It looks cool, but it sounds like its usually just an OK meal.
It was good, just not great. Maybe I just needed to order more wine? Besides, on your all-girls trips, stick with Tutto Italia. According to DW and DD, the male CM's are much better looking at TI!! :rolleyes1

Day 6 – 5/24/12 – Thursday

Today we have changed our plans and are visiting Kennedy Space Center or as I grew up calling it – Cape Canaveral. It does not open until 9:00am but it is about 66 miles from VWL or about a 1.5 hour drive. As usual, I’m up at the crack of dawn so I try not to rouse DW to let her sleep as long as possible. Her phone alarm goes off and it’s time to evaluate and assess how she feels. When I wake up, I know instantly how I feel and what hurts and what doesn’t. As my years advance, the hurt list is getting longer and longer! DW is different. She takes a few minutes to go down her list to see what is working, what isn’t, what hurts and what is tolerable. Others that suffer from migraines or other ailments may do the same thing but I’ve learned to not ask her how she feels when she first opens her eyes. After a few minutes she deduces that enough parts are in passable working order for us to get up and go.

“ARE YOU SURE?! You know KSC is out in the middle of nowhere so if you get a rebound migraine it will be a while before we get you some relief?”

“I’m okay. I’ll just take it easy. There’s not a lot of walking to do and there are plenty of air-conditioned buildings to escape to if it gets too hot”.

Okey-dokey then. I text the others to start the countdown. We are a go for KSC. T-minus 40 minutes until liftoff!

The ride to KSC is an easy ride, except for the darn toll booths!! You pass through 4 of them along the way so bring lots of quarters. Somehow I always manage to get in the lane that the person in front of me waits to find their change until they come to a complete stop at the toll booth. It reminds me of the little old lady in the checkout line at the grocery store. She has 15 gazillion items and waits until every single item is scanned before she starts digging in her purse to find her checkbook and a pen! Then it takes her an eternity to fill out the check with the cashier saying the whole time, all you need to do is sign it…our register will fill out the rest. Nope…not gonna trust that machine. That’s why she watched every single item being scanned to make sure it was the correct price. And heaven forbid if she has coupons! I know, I know…I digress and I am sometimes impatient but she should have planned ahead (says the uber-planner)! We now return, AGAIN, to our regularly scheduled programming…

Along the drive to KSC, I hear a funny noise. Oh no…not car trouble! Nope, it was the rumbling of stomachs due to lack of sustenance – mine included. Every time we thought about getting off the toll road to stop, there was a line of traffic backed up to the exit. On vacation you forget the huddled masses are having to work and this was peak early morning traffic time. Besides, I didn’t want to have to get off the turnpike again and pay another toll when we returned! Yes, the logic there is amazing, isn’t it? You spend billions of dollars for the trip and you don’t want to pay a $0.75 toll! Hey, you gotta save wherever you can, right?

We made it to KSC without stopping for breakfast. I have not been here since 1980 and don’t remember a whole lot about the visit. Even though NASA has shut down the shuttle program (BOO ), they still have a fair amount of activity and plenty to do and see. As of this date, there is a lot of construction going on. They are building a permanent display to house the space Shuttle Atlantis. I definitely will return when this exhibit is complete. I realize that KSC is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is more of an informational tour than entertainment so I will try to keep the lecture to a minimum.

As I said before, I purchased our tickets online. I bought one annual pass and that gives you a discount on one day admission for up to 6 people. The total for the annual pass and the 5 regular admission discounted tickets was less than if I had purchased all 6 at gate prices. In addition, the annual pass gives you a 20% discount on food and merchandise and you receive a commemorative coin as well.

Once inside the complex, there is a coffee/snack kiosk to the right by the Space Shop gift store. They have ham & cheese croissants, muffins, etc. so we ate our breakfast here. There is a daily schedule sheet that lists all the times for the various tours, shows and exhibits. Most everything is included with the price of admission but you can pay extra for things like a private tour or lunch with an astronaut. We stuck with the freebies. Our first item on the agenda was the bus tour that has two stops. The first stop is at the LC-39 Observation Gantry and the second is at the Apollo/Saturn V Center. You can spend as long as you like at each stop. A bus comes by every 15 minutes so when you are ready to move on, just get on the next bus. There was a map of the complex on the wall at the entrance to the bus tour…

_DSC1783-1.jpg

_DSC1784-1.jpg

We happened to be the first in line so I got a couple of front row seat pics on the way to the first stop...

This is the Vehicle Assembly Building that houses the space shuttle while it was being prepped for launch. That flag is larger than a football field. The shuttle is upright while in the building and also while in transit to the launch pad.

_DSC1787.jpg

_DSC1802.jpg

Here is the “highway” that they use to transport the shuttle to the launch pad. It looks like a two lane road but the tracks on the crawler-transporter uses both lanes to move the shuttle.

_DSC1790.jpg

Since the shuttle program is in moth balls (BOO again  ), I had to scarf a pic from the web to show the size of the transporter. Notice the man at the bottom/center of the pic? That shows the enormity of the transporter and the shuttle.

CrawlerTransporter02.jpg

Back to the bus tour and a picture of the Observation Gantry as we approach

_DSC1792.jpg

And a few pics from the first stop at the Observation Gantry. These aren’t very exciting pics but it would have been a real thrill to watch a shuttle launch from here. Of course you would have to be a foreign dignitary or some muckety-muck Senator to be invited.

_DSC1793.jpg

_DSC1794.jpg

There are restroom facilities at this stop as well as snacks and a small gift shop. The next stop on this bus tour is the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

_DSC1806.jpg

_DSC1807.jpg

No, we didn’t take a wrong turn and end up on the moon. There is a short film of the two space programs (Apollo & Saturn) before you enter the main building. Then you enter the command control center where you watch a launch sequence for an Apollo program liftoff…

_DSC1811.jpg

_DSC1812.jpg

After that you enter the main building which houses a Saturn V rocket. IT IS HUGE

I can’t quite figure out why these fellows are right outside the building other than it was symbolic that vultures were picking over what’s left of NASA after the end of the space shuttle program (Did I say BOO before?  )

The rest of our time at KSC was spent touring the exhibits and watching the 3D presentations of the Hubble Space Telescope and another on the Space Station in 3D. There are 3 different CS restaurants. We ate at the Orbit Café and had fajitas, burgers and chicken tenders. It was as good as any fast food restaurant. There is one “ride” at KSC – Shuttle Launch Experience. I was apprehensive about riding because I didn’t know how realistic it would be. It wasn’t nearly as daunting as Mission to Mars-orange side but fairly comparable to the green side. While we were there they had a high school competition in progress where the groups competed in displaying their remote controlled robotic mini-lunar modules. The group we watched could not get their module to receive their signals until someone realized the battery in the remote control was dead. Poor kids but that’s what happens when you don’t plan ahead!

There are plenty of photo-ops with space capsules, suits, rockets, etc. but I won’t bore you with our family pics. There is also a lot to do for small children. There is also memorials for the men and women that gave their lives in the history of NASA’s space exploration and an astronaut Hall of Fame with artifacts and exhibits. If you are so inclined, there is an intense, half-day hands-on train like an astronaut program for an additional cost. Advanced reservations are recommended because space is limited.

We finished up our day by visiting the Space Shop to look for souvenirs and gifts. There is a wide selection ranging from a few dollars to thousands of dollars per item. We didn’t quite buy out the store but don’t forget, we got 20% off because of the annual pass. Woohoo!! :cool1:

Our day was done at KSC. We needed to return to WDW because everyone has ADR’s to eat this night. DW survived the day without a relapse. She wasn’t feeling 100% but we took it easy all day and stayed out of the sun as much as possible. We wanted to get back to our rooms early enough to allow everyone to lay down and rest a bit before going to eat. As previously mentioned, DW and I will eat at Artist Point there at WL, DS and DDiL are eating at Planet Hollywood at DTD and DD and DDfi are eating at House of Blues at DTD. As you have seen, we have had several times during our trip that we went our separate ways for a short period of time. I don’t care how close of a family/friends you are on a trip, eventually someone will get on someone else’s nerves. By PLANNING a few of these alone times, it helps to break up the group time and allow a bit of a breather from each other. At least it works for us anyway.

The two young couples left for the bus stop when they were ready to take them to DTD. Both said their meals were very good and they enjoyed themselves. DW and I had an ADR at 8:30. Artist Point is WL’s signature dining restaurant. The menu is mainly Pacific Northwest seafood, steaks and game. Their menu is seasonal so the following pics of the menu may be different depending on when you are there…

Here again, the food porn gods were not with me. None of the pics I took were even remotely usable. However, I don’t know if it was because our CM waiter Ricardo saw me taking pics, he took a fancy to DW or my shark-bite fame had spread far and wide but we had excellent service and an excellent meal.

DW wasn’t about to tempt fate with her migraine so she did not order an adult beverage. Instead, she had their Pellegrino mineral water. We all know how the “Florida water” tastes sometimes so this was the logical choice. I had a Red Hook dark beer. For appetizers, DW had the seasonal salad that included shaved Asian pears, sunflower seed granola, smoked blue cheese with an ice wine vinaigrette. I had the roasted oysters with Dungeness crab ceviche. It sounds a bit high-falutin’ but let me tell you, I wanted to pick that dish up and slurp what little remained!

A bit of background on DW and I and our eating habits-we try almost anything once and twice if we like it! I’m not the typical Southern male that eats only meat and potatoes. Growing up, my mother made my sister and I take at least one bite of anything she prepared. Mind you, she didn’t fix fancy meals. The try one bite command was usually on something like broccoli or mustard greens but if we didn’t like it fine, but at least we tried it. I have carried that over into my adult life and I usually order whatever I cannot pronounce from the menu in order to try something new. I rarely find anything I absolutely cannot stand. DW likes to cook and she will try any recipe, no matter how complicated. She has the kind of palate that can taste a dish and tell you just about everything that is in it. We will eat something at a restaurant and she can go back home and prepare the same dish and it will taste just as good and quite often, better! It always amazes me how she does that. A prime example was the butternut squash soup at Victoria & Albert’s. When we got home, she searched the internet for recipes until she found one that she thought was close to V&A’s. It wasn’t exactly right and she thought this spice or that would make it better but by the time she finished, I would’ve slapped my mama if she had tried to take that soup away from me while I was eating it! Her culinary expertise is the main reason why I weigh as much as I do. Come to think of it, it’s her fault I would not have been able to ride Manta at SeaWorld due to my girth!

Back to the meal at AP. For our entrée, DW had the Copper River Salmon. She loves salmon and this was roasted on a cedar plank and covered with a French contemporary style sauce that included eggplant caviar, tomatoes, quail egg and lemon aioli. I was feeling a bit adventurous and had the roasted buffalo tenderloin with corn/sausage mash, gold potato smear and a blackberry pinot noir reduction sauce. Holey moley people! That buffalo would melt in your mouth it was so tender and DW’s salmon was a perfect blend of fish and sauce. As with most Disney restaurants, the portions are quite ample but we could not stop now. It was on to the desserts!

We usually share a dessert so I told DW to pick. She could not decide between the AP cobbler of seasonal berries topped with a house-made raspberry ice cream or the Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee with a chocolate-hazelnut biscotto. She asked CM Ricardo what he would suggest and he said either would be fine. DW told him to surprise her and he did. He brought her both of them! The cobbler was really good but I have yet to find any cobbler that beats DW’s blueberry cobbler she makes at home. On the other hand, the crème brulee was to die for! I like crème brulee but I don’t love it. I LOVED this crème brulee!!! It had just the right amount of sticky crust on top and the filling wasn’t runny or over cooked like some are. The biscuit was not overpowering so much that it took away from the taste of the crème brulee. It had just the right amount of chocolate-hazelnut to offset the vanilla bean. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. We also got the Imperial Earl Grey tea that is steeped at the table in a small press pot. It really hit the spot after all the food we consumed. What a meal and less we forget, we received a 20% TIW discount because AP is a participating restaurant. Talk about a fantastic way to end a day.

We waddled our way back to the room just before 10:00pm. DS/DDiL and DD/DDfi all arrived within 10 minutes and we each rehashed our meals. DS and DDiL would be using DME tomorrow to return to north Alabama so we said our goodbyes tonight. They will sleep in while we get up to make our way to Universal’s Island of Adventure and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Thanks for the awesome pictures Bill! We haven't gone in many years. I need to return soon with the youngest. Can't do for some and not the youngest. Although the oldest had the distinct pleasure of being the guests of a real astronaut. It was supposed to be for the launch off of his last mission, but was scrubbed. Not launching until after our launch home. :( He was literally the boy next door when I grew up. Truly an amazing family and we were honored to be among his guests. I was looking for his name amongst the pictures you took, but didn't see it. Now, I want to go there for our november trip too. Geeze I'm going to have to stop reading your reports. They are a budget buster for me. :rotfl: Glad your wife was feeling a bit better. I know those migraines can take a few days to feel "normal" again.
