DOLPIN - August 2004

Does anyone know if we can book the dolphin for August 2004 with the government rate?

I'm fairly new to all this, but I booked the dolphin at a government rate in early July for April, 2004. When I tried to do that earlier, I was told that the rates were not out yet.

I called the dolphin directly. I also got great advice on these boards. You can also call the Starwood Resort hotel number and inquire.

I wish I could be clearer. I called, checked website, dreamunlimited (that's a travel agency which deals with WDW travel), but ultimately, it was the call to the dolphin every few days that clinched it.

On the day I got the reservation directly, I was first told at around 4 pm that there were absolutely not going to be any teacher's discounts during 4/24 - 5/2, 2004. Mind you, each time I had been calling, I spoke with a different reservationist. Up till then I had heard, the rate is not in yet.... This particular afternoon, I was rather surprised because it sounded so final and was so disappointing. I was told that there was some sort of conference going on. Well, I regrouped and called back to ask a question for future reference about the teacher rate. A different reservationist answered and I started out with "I just called and learned that there were no government rates available for 4/24/04, but I want to know ... (I was about to ask if this was a new policy for all times -- that the program was dropped or if I could hope on having a reservation for a different time in the future), but the woman cut me off. She told me to hold while she quickly explained that she pulled up those dates on the computer and that there were certainly some government rates available... I was in pleasant shock, did a double take, but then took it. This call took place at 8 pm on the same day. Go figure!

So, I'd say be persistant, try exploring what works best. Those with more experience will surely have more definitive information. Someone may even have the proper name of the websites, too.

thank you very much. I'm afraid to try it - do you remember what the rate was? was it the 129.00? We would probably like to stay at the swanonly because of the double sink, but I'm hoping dolphin is still 129.00, every bit of savings helps. Let me know, so then I'll do it - I'm afraid to be disappointed. thanks for all your help
