I understand that many times dolphins will swim with the ship when leaving PC. Where would be the best viewing location for this and when should we start watching for them?? DD3 and DS4 would love to see this!

My DD saw one when we were on deck 10 after the embarktion party. My DW & I never saw it, but others around us said they also saw it.

We saw about 4-5 dolphins swimming alongside last May. At first they were just swimming around the side of the ship, but when we started pulling away from the dock, they followed us out. They were towards the back of the ship during the sail away party.

We were on deck 9 close to the ping pong tables - there were several jumping along with us. I wish I had been on deck 4 to get a closer look and to take pictures. They are beautiful

so far i have seen dolphins all 3 times as we have left PC. we always get a balcony room so we just go on our balcony and watch. for new years i only saw 1 but i did see it !! i am like a little kid, i jump up and down, and i say to my dh and ds i saw a dolphin, i saw a dolphin... LoL ... normally anyone in hearing range of me looks too and then they say the same thing...

You will usually see them off the rear of the ship as it leaves Port Canaveral. The ship getting going stirs up the bottom of the channel, which gets the local aquatic life excited for a easy lunch.

DH saw them on our cruise in 2003. Off the rear of the boat when we were on deck 10 for the sail away party. I missed them:(

Our boss has his sailboat in a marina near the port and during the summer when he is out washing the outside of his boat, manatees will bump right up against his legs.

pfishgirl-- We have a verandah on starboard side, midship, deck 8. Would we be able to see them from there? Although I suspect we would want to be out on deck for the sail away...

You suspect correctly - being up on decks 9/10 for the sail away party is a lot of fun. Though I can see being in the room at that time - putting cloths away getting organized for the trip being a possibility (several times we've just made it in time to the sail away deck parties). If you are "stuck" in your room and you have a veranda I definatly would be checking out the ocean action as you are pulling away from port (any port because thats the best time to spot the sea critters)

Two years ago on the Western Magic 9/13/03 sailing- we saw dolphins while at sea - on our way to Castaway Cay.

We happened to be on deck 4 starboard side -- a little kid spotted them first - and yelled out she saw Flipper :)

Since I had my camcorder with me I got them on tape!
