A friend is suggesting we plan a DL trip and stay at Dolphin's cove because she is a trend west member. What can anyone tell me about it?

how far away from DL?, any other info would be good. thanks

Abby, We have stayed at Dolphins Cove. The rooms are more like Condos with full kitchens. When we were there there were not washers and dryers. But there is a Laundry area. They are two story buildings and have no elevators the units themselves are only one story though. They have one,two and three bedrom units. There is a pool that is nice. It is about 1/2 mile West from DL on the corner North East of Harbor and W Orangewood Ave. The Art shuttle is right around the corner by the Denny's, there is also other resturants in the area, Bakers Square and there is a Carls JR. There is also a gas station across the street. I often look at the Trend West site trying to find space there and hardly ever find anything available there. You should wait until Feb 2008 and stay in the new Trend West site that will be opening. It looks like it will be nice. :) Have you been to the Trend west web site. You can look at pictures of Dolphins Cove there. The web site address is: www.worldmarktheclub.com you don't have to be a member to go there. Once you get to the web site click on the left hand side where it says resort gallery, it will bring you to a map. Click on the West states which will then bring you to a map of California, click on Dolphins Cove. I would stay there again. It was a fun, nice place. If you have any further questions that I haven't posted ( since I can't think of anything else to say) let me know.

It is going to be built at Katella Avenue and Zeyn Street, down the street from Peacock Suites. It will be next to GardenWalk, which is a new outdoor mall that is also being built. Should be nice. I read somewhere that it will have a roof top deck to be able to watch fireworks on. :thumbsup2 Sounds interesting.

We also will be staying at the Dolphin's Cove this summer through my dad's time share. I am a little unsure of it and was happy to read your post. :goodvibes It appears to have mixed reviews on the trend west and other sites. I'm most worried about the cleanliness, noise and A.C. as we will be there in mid July.

Also would love any other info you might have, as I usually book through AAA to a Moderate or Deluxe resort and have everything planned before we go. Can you give me any insite on some of the following:

1. Transportation to and from the airport (SNA preferably) to the Dolphin

2. Did you find the ART shuttle commonly crowded, or have to wait long waits from the Denny's location.

3. Transportation and or planning to go to other parks (Seaworld and the San Diego Zoo)

Thanks for any help. PM me if you'd like.

disneykreyzee, I haven't forgotten that I need to reply to your questions. I am thinking about them, but am at work. I think I will wait until I get home and reply to you then if that is okay. ;)

disneykreyzee, I have stayed at Dolphins Cove a few times. I have only experienced a crowded Art shuttle a couple of times, and that was when they had many more hotels per shuttle. I think the decor is dated, but not dirty. That is subject to personal opinion. I have never stayed there in the summer, so I cant help with the A/C question. I also cant help with your last question. I have tunnel vision and pretty much only goto DL!

disneykreyzee, Gnbuggy is my SIL so I had her answer this question also. We rented a car when we stayed at the Dolphins Cove and GNbuggy has always driven there. Where our room was I didn't hear any major noise. We were in a 3 bedroom and if I remember correctly there were only air conditioners in the master bedroom and in the living room. There is only trash service once a week, at least that was what it was when we were there and I think we had towel and maid service once also. The room like Gnbuggy said could stand to be updated in the decor area but was clean and everything worked.

1. Transportation to and from the airport (SNA preferably) to the Dolphin

I would go online to Karmel Shuttle or Super Shuttle and get to the hotel from the airport that way I know you can make reservations and get quotes on how much it will cost from the web sites.

2. Did you find the ART shuttle commonly crowded, or have to wait long waits from the Denny's location.

We only had one time that we had to wait for the next shuttle with where running about every 20 minutes. We had a party of 9 people so we just waited to be able to fit better in the shuttle. We have never really had a problem with not being able to get on.;)

3. Transportation and or planning to go to other parks (Seaworld and the San Diego Zoo)

When we have gone to the other parks, Sea World, or Universal we have always had a rental car so I can't help you with this. I have seen on the Disneyland site (I think) that they sell the tickets to the other parks and have some sort of bus that you can take as a package deal. Or can you call the Dolphins Cove and ask them what they suggest?

Sorry I wasn't able to help you very much on this. If you think of any other questions just let me know.

Kristi

Thanks for all the insight. That makes me feel better:wizard: Now if I can just keep busy while waiting til July for my Disney!!:hourglass
