Dolphin Worries

I read on a thread recently that a family had to be relocated because of a
overbooking of a convention at the Dolphin. Does this happen often at this
hotel? I'm really worried if I book at this hotel for June of 09 that when we
arrive that we might be relocated to a different hotel not of my
choice.

Wow, that would concern me, too! Hotels definitely walk people from time to time- and if it turns out a huge convention needs more rooms, the little guy will definitely lose out. It will be interesting to see what people say. If you get walked at the Dolphin, you will end up off property. It's not like they can walk you to the Poly, it's probably booked!

Overbookings do happen at any hotel. I've stayed at the dolphin for all but one of my vacations, and many times we've had HUGE conferences at the hotel. We've never been bumped.

That one post was the only time in all the time that I've been on the DIS that I've heard of that happening.We've stayed there lots of times and have never had a problem. It was not just because of a convention but also because of rehabs. Check the Swan and Dolphin thread because I think that the rehabs are almost finished.
I've read more about people getting bumped at WDW hotels.

I have to agree. That's the only time I've heard of it happening at the S/D. I have seen more info about people getting bumped at WDW resorts than the S/D. I wouldn't worry about it too much since it seems it rarely happens, and is essentially beyond your control.
