Dolphin transportation

Could someone please tell me 1) The exact route the boat takes from the dolphin to epcot and MGM. Is it the same boat that makes one big loop or are there two different routes? Also I know that the Dolphin shares boat service with other resorts as well. Is the route always the same? And 2) Tell me about the bus service. What other resorts share a bus with the Dolphin? Sorry for all the questions, we are trying to decide if we need a car or not for our vacation in August. Thanks!

The boats make one continous trip from MGM to Epcot and back. The route is: MGM; Swan/Dolphin; Yacht/Beach Club; Boardwalk; Epcot; Boardwalk; Yacht/Beach; Swan/Dolphin; MGM. The buses begin at the Swan and stop at the Dolphin, Boardwalk (I think), and Yacht/Beach.

We just returned from the Swan, and I never felt we needed a car. The boat to MGM and Epcot is a wonderful, very relaxing ride. Taking a car would be much more complicated. We even walked back from Epcot 2 evenings after dinner. It is a nice walk along the lake and boardwalk. The busses are less relaxing but they take you directly to MK, the first stop. In a car you would park at the TTc and have to take the boat or monorail over. Enjoy your trip.

NancyIL said it all...The only time it ever changes is when the parks/resorts are very busy and then the Swan and Dolphin get their own busses. That happened when we went in mid Aug one year.

Many thanks for the advice! It was the exact information I needed. After driving 13 hours down from Virginia, it will be nice to know we can just park the car for awhile. Nancy from Va.
