I have been looking to book 11/23 to 12/2 2006 at the Dolphin using the Teachers' discount. Using the Dreams Unlimited Travel site as the access point to the Dolphin's reservation system, I entered the dates and selected the teachers' discount rate search. Checking several times in the last two weeks, this online query produced remarkably consistent results: 3 nights offered at $165 and 6 nights at $209.
Disappointed with that result, I called the Dolphin directly today, prepared to utilize my full diplomatic skills to negotiate more nights at $165. It turns out that wasn't necessary. The reservation agent entered the dates (and my teachers' discount request) and bingo there they were: all 9 nights at $165.
Count me in! I booked it on the spot. With tax savings included, my toll-free phone call and 5 minutes of my time saved me $300!
Bottom line: It never hurts to call directly.
