Hello all

Some of you might remember my post about my less than desirable stay at the Dolphin on our honeymoon (March 2002).

I wrote a letter with all my grievences to the hotel's management, and received an apology letter along with a free 2 night stay.

I used this free stay over NYE (our 3rd time at the Dolphin), and wow - what a room! It was on the 7th floor and had 2 balconies - a regular small one, and one of the big curving ones. We could see everything there was to see - from Spaceship Earth to the Tower of Terror.

The service was great. We even received a gift basket full of chocolate, including a white chocolate Swan and milk chocolate Dolphin.

The balconies came in very handy on NYE. It was raining so hard we decided to bail out of Epcot and watch the fireworks from our room. We got to see both MGM and Epcot fireworks at the same time!

Overall, a great experience. We will be returning to the Dolphin in the near future.

Grim,

I think we had the exact same room that you stayed in! We stayed in room 7015 last February which was the last room on the wing facing Epcot, Yacht/Beach Club, and the Boardwalk. I agree with you--the view is unbelievable (assuming we had the same room, but if not, we still had a great view :D ).
I read from a post on these boards last year that the best way to get a room on that wing at the Dolphin is to request "an unobstructed view of Epcot" on one of the higher floors.
It is amazing, though, how much the views at the Dolphin can differ. I saw many rooms that I would NEVER want to stay in simply because of the view--some looked directly out at palm trees which were 2 feet away from the window.
When it comes to views, I guess it just pays to ask--or write a letter. :D

Does room 7015 have a king bed or two doubles?

We had 5016 last month (non smoking King across the hall from the 015's) and the dual balconies were great! Unfortunately we couldn't see the Epcot fireworks so next time we'll try to get on the other side. We are going to try to get either 5015, 7015 or 9015 depending on the beds and tree obstruction. Sounds like we don't have to worry about the trees with 7015.

Did the room smell at all smoky? We ran around to each floor to determine which were non-smoking floors and it looked like 5, 6, and 8. Unfortunately the double balconies are only on 5, 7 and 9.

If anyone has stayed in any of these other rooms (5015-9015) any info about the bed setup and views would be welcomed. Thanks!

Room 7015 had 1 king size bed. There were no obstructions (palm trees, etc) from our balconies. There are some palm trees on that side of the resort, so I would imagine if you wre any lower than floor 5, you may have a partially obstructed view. I know that floor 7 was above those trees.
We didn't notice a smell of smoke at all. It was a non-smoking room, and I would assume the whole floor on that wing was non-smoking because we never smelled smoke at all during the entire week we were there (and I would notice if there was a smell--I'm slightly allergic to the smoke).
If we stay at the Dolphin again, there are only two rooms in the whole resort that I would request. One is 7105, and the other would be 9015, which as UponAStar has mentioned, both have two balconies.
Another nice thing about these rooms is that they have windows on two walls, which makes it seem like a larger room.
I know these are king premier rooms and they are definitely classified as "resort view rooms w/balcony," so if you have simply reserved a standard view room at the Dolphin, there is a good chance you will not get these room.

My room number was 7170. There was one palm tree that went up as high as the balcony, but didn't obstruct the view.

Here's some pictures of the views:

Does 9015 have a daybed/couch, and can you get a rollaway? I'm assuming it would also have a king bed, but we have 2 kids!

6015 and 6016...and we never smelt smoke......and I ws told it was a non smoking room.......I can smell smoke a mile away.........and we had the round balcony and it was heaven......so wonderful

Hey Pumba,
Since the 6th floor rooms don't the have the second small balcony did the window there go to the floor like the front facing ones?

one near the round balcony and then one on the other side.....it is awesome......totally awesome .....

We were in 6116 (in the east wing- grimgrinnin's 1st photo shows our wing but we were on the other side facing EPCOT) the beginning of December. We did only have the one large balcony at the end which was fine and it was obstructed by trees but I was still able to see the fireworks from there and clearly through our other window which was a full floor to ceiling window. I didn't mind the trees blocking the balcony because I could see out but it seemed a little more private because the trees were there.

When we looked down we can see into the clamshell waterfall. This has to be one of the best rooms we've ever had on property. It was so convenient. A quick walk to the elevator to the ground floor and Tubbi's was right around the corner. The pool on the other case was close but the weather certainly didn't allow this South Floridian any pool time that trip:D

grimgrinnin, so glad to hear you had a better stay this time. S/D always seems very accomodating when correcting any problems you may encounter.
