Just saw your thread so obviously missed the show. What was on as featured foods?
We LOVE Dollywood. Alternate every summer between there and WDW. 2003 is our year to go to DW--we leave June 20th.
Since our last trip in 2001, she's added a bunch of new stuff--any tips or advice?? We've been going regularly since 1993 and have seen the parks grow and grow.

I missed it! Maybe they'll show it agin and I'll catch it. Gosh, he should be on there he eats well up there...all those aldies love to feed him their home cooked food and he takes good care of them (he's in Safety). Today is his B-day and yesterday he worked and these 2 older ladies brought him 2 peanut butter pies for his special day (they are not workers, just visitors who come often and like Keith a lot).

I am not sure of what is new this year. I know they are revamping all of Country Fair (the area around the log flume) for next season. I know that starting June 20th they'll have Kidz FunFest featuring VeggieTales, Extreme Sports, Garfield's 25th Birthday show and many special things for kids.

I can't think of any new rides but they did redo Thunder Road last year and I didn't see it but heard over & over that people like the old one better.
I think Splash Country (waterpark) was there when you were last there.

Didn't you say Keith takes her around the park sometimes, Brenda? At the beginning of the show, they had a guy in a buggy with her and he shot off a gun. I wondered if it was your dh.

Dzneelvr, they talked a little bit about Dolly's life and showed some of her park's homestyle cooking. I can't remember the actual foods. We've been to Dollywood twice. It's not WDW, but I liked it. The last time we went there was about 3 years ago.

Not him, Shannon. Keith gets to physically carry her. Poor him. LOL All the Dolly fans want to be him. He usually is just keeping her safe (not bodyguard type though) but say she has to go up in a cherry picker to light the Christmas tree or something, Keith gets to secure her in there. She has like a 22" waist or something! She is tiny--well except for her hair & ...
When she opened Splash Country, she wore a wetsuit and heels and he carried her to the Hummer because all the landscaping wasn't finished & it is hard to walk in those heels inthe dirt!
He says she is very nice, very friendly and much like she is in interviews. (I think she flirts a lot though. )

He goes every morning at 4am to knoxville to pick up all the food for the day them delievers it to the park

Sorry I missed it. We will be heading there in mid May. I would love to had seen "Granny's." That is our favorite place to eat in the park.

I haven't been to Dollywood for several years but I remember liking Granny's as well. I thought the name was something like Aunt Granny's, though. Has it always been called Granny Ogle's?
We also ate one time at the Backstage restaurant. It was okay but the service wasn't great. The waitress actually suggested that since we had several young children we might be happier eating somewhere else! This was after we asked for a booster seat, and they didn't have one. I really do like Dollywood but I don't find it very friendly to people in wheelchairs. Not just because of the sometimes steep paths but also because the stores often had threshholds that were hard to cross in a wheelchair. I guess I've just been spoiled by the accessibility of WDW, as well as the helpfulness and friendliness of the CMs. I didn't care for Universal Studios the one (and only) time we visited in 1996 for the same reasons.
Do they still have the Sidewinder at Dollywood?
