Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors tv movie

I watched this last night (dvr) and was surprised at how good it was. Apparently this was the most watched tv movie in several years. It actually beat out the total viewership numbers of the Wiz even though it did not receive anywhere near the promotion. That is worth noting because they were shown in the same time slot, just a week apart. Our local tv station said that there have been many requests for a reshowing so maybe it will be shown again. Of course there is hope that the networks see the numbers and broadcast more shows like this. A movie based on Dolly's song Jolene is being made.

Loved watching the story of Dolly's life and  like a baby. Met her yrs ago, she is a genuine southern, as nice and sweet as they come. Being raised in poverty myself, I can relate and admire she's very proud of her loving family and never forgot where she came from.

I didn't even hear about this. (I live in a cave apparently). Hopefully they will replay it. I love Dolly Parton.

I looked up the young actress just out of curiousity and was surprised to find out that it's the actress who plays Faith Newman on the Young and the Restless.

LOVE Dolly!
And, from what I saw of the movie, it was actually very good!

And, the girl who starred is excellent...
A bright future in acting and entertainment indeed!

I am also a Southern Girl...
One of these little fiesty southern women.
That little girl captured that, right away, in the very first seconds of the movie.

The girl from the bully Saunders family is from our town. Her name is Kennedy Brice, she also had a part on The Walking Dead. Just watched the movie this morning and loved it.

Very much enjoyed it tonight. Sweet story from her life. The young actress that played her was so good!

She plays on Young and the Restless soap opera.

I fell asleep and missed part of it. Hope it will be on hulu so I can watch what I missed.

Pretty sure I saw NetFlix has it, too. I watched it and thought it was a good TV movie. Couldn't miss Dolly's sister Stella - she sounds exactly like her!

Was she the gossipy woman at the store in town?

DH and I loved the movie, he's always enjoyed Jennifer Nettles' singing when she was part of Sugarland and we thought she did a great job playing Dolly's mother in the movie. I hope they release it on DVD so I can buy it. Enjoyed seeing Ricky Schroeder again too. It was just a really nice family movie, wish there were more of that type of movie made today.

My mom was watching a bit of it when we were in WDW. I must be the only one that thought it was over the top cheesiness. The little girl was idk so angelic and unreal. Dolly must have put out a lot of effort to make that movie just so inbelievable. My mom loved it but the rest of us thought it was gag worthy. Lol

I enjoyed it. (But really, anything "Dolly" makes me feel connected to my late mom, because she was such a big fan.) I watched it Friday night (via DVR) and ordered her biography from the library on Saturday.

I definitely think we'll see more of the little girl who played Dolly, the ones who played her older sister and her friend Judy, too.
