 Don't let my DH see this thread - both the mention of Dolly and Hooters would be enough to get him there:p :p

Nice one, Kazzie . . . shame it's not on when we're over there, but for those of you visiting next May, looking forward to your trip reports already ;) :p ;) :p ;)

Having got this info a couple of months ago for the book (but been sworn to secrecy ;) ) until it was announced, I can confirm it will be right next door to the Premium Outlets Mall just off I-Drive and it will be a BIG indoor complex, modelled on their two existing sites at Branson, MO, and Myrtle Beach, SC. It is a fun-style family show, with audience participation and lots of Southern style (and hospitality, they promise). The only negative (for those who worry about such things :p ) is that Dolly has a no alcohol policy, so that means no unlimited beer or wine with the meal, just sodas and coffee. I think it should be a good show, going some way to replacing the Old Wild Bill's show on 192, which I quite liked (only Dolly's will be on a much bigger scale).

Check out their website www.dixiestampede.com

Well that sounds really appealing - NOT :)

I don't think I will add this to my list of 'must do things in Orlando'

Sorry Simon,

You'll have to kill me now!!;)

Well, dinner shows have never held any appeal for me, but I actually think Dolly Parton is quite cool. Now, this is a really, really stupid question (whatever the answer), but will Dolly herself be performing?

No, it's a good question Deb, but the answer is No! She will be there on May 22 for the opening preview night, though. How do I know? Just ask me. Go on, ask me!

 oh dear! Since Debbie is not around I'd better ask you!

Simon, how do you know Dolly will only be around for the preview on May 22nd :teeth: ?

Come on, Simon, don't keep us waiting any longer! Let me guess - you're Dolly's understudy?

ROFLOL Debbie :teeth: ! ( I think he must have gone to rehearsals ;) )

LOL, Deb! No, it's more mundane than that. I've been invited over for the opening, and to met Miss P herself. Can't say I'm a big fan of her music, but it will be fun to meet someone who has this 'larger-than-life' persona, if you get my drift :p

So Simon I guess it's a stupid question but does that mean that "ordinary" joe bloggs can't get tickets for the opening night - I'm proud to admit that Paul and I both big fans and would love to see this but only if it is Dolly herself.

Sam, the simple answer is I don't know, but I would suspect it is a media/travel trade event only, with invited guests from all the local hotels, etc, in a bid to drum up business for it.
