Can anyone tell me about the dolls that you can make/dress up in World showcase? I think it is in Germany. How do you do it, how much does it cost etc. Also, if anyone has pictures that they could post we would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!!

My mom bought one for DD a couple years ago. The lady who does them was really nice. They choose the eye and hair color and dress. She fixed the hair just like DD's. It is a lot like American Girl. I honestly don't know what the total came too, Grandma wouldn't tell, but I am pretty sure it was expensive. I guess $100.00? They had a good time doing it together and the doll is one that sits on DD's dresser. Although Grandma tells her to play with her, DD says she is too pretty to play with!

Yes, they are pretty expensive.
If you want it dressed like a Disney Princess it is $160. Otherwise there are I believe two other options that are $120-$140. My niece got one our last trip in April. Now all she wants for her birthday on Saturday is money so she can buy one this trip again in August. :cool1:

I looked at them in January this year, they were $120 plus, I think accessories made a difference. My DD was not interested, she thought it was creepy to have a doll look like her. (Rats!, I wanted one) If I remember correctly, they are vinyl/plastic & cloth, you choose the eye/hair & outfit.

This link from Mouseplanet is about DL, not WDW, but the same dolls are sold in both parks. They are made by a company called Engel Puppen. If you scroll down the page about 2/3 of the way down, the picture titled "Small World Dolls" are the Engel Puppen dolls and the rest of the page is about them.

Thanks everyone! Does anyone know how long it takes to make them?

I would say it wasn't more than 15 minutes or so . . . . or time just flew by as my daughter felt so special. I've never seen anyone get one (besides her). The making of her doll actually drew a crowd - it was so cute. She picked a head and hair and they attached it to the body. She chose what she wanted it to wear - she chose Aurora. They cut the doll's hair to give it bangs (although she regrets this and did not understand what bangs were at the time). We had it sent to our resort - probably won't do this again. The box was a bit banged up but the doll was just fine. She is saving her pennies so she can get another in August!

I was told up to $165-175 for a doll with outfit.

Outfits go all the up to $65.

They are about the same size as AG dolls, but the feet are wider.

A new holiday edition debuts around Thanksgiving time with the original doll maker making a special visit from Germany.

In April, a doll with a standard Disney princess costume was $160. Dolls without the Disney outfits were somewhat cheaper.

Does anybody know if you can just buy extra outfits and not a doll? Thanks!

Ok. Now I have to get dd one. Thanks :p !

Seriously though, I had seen these but I had forgotten all about them. What a special souvenir for her to always have :goodvibes

Does anyone have a link or info about the different outfits?
I don't think I would want a Disney princess outfit (gasp!) but on the link a pp posted it said you can get an outfit from Its a Small World- that would be so cool!

The doll making area is all the way at the back of the toy shop in Germany in WS. The extra outfits are hanging up along the wall to the left as you face the area where the dolls are made. There are lots of different types of outfits - from just a sort of plain little dress to fancy Disney Princess dresses. I believe the most expensive are about $65.

My DD has two of these and loves them. You can definitely buy just the outfit, but any outfit for an 18" doll works. We buy American Girl outfits for them all the time.

We recently had an incident with DD3 giving one of them a haircut, and I emailed Engel-puppen about replacing the wig when we visit in December, and within a day got a response from Hans Engel saying yes, just bring her along and they can replace the wig no problem. (I didn't ask if they would charge or not, figuring I have to get the wig replaced either way -- the doll has a modified mohawk right notw)

I love when Disney Magic rubs off on outside companies :goodvibes
