Dollhouse on FOX

Well, it really didn't have the Whedonny humor I've come to expect. Bummer there. There aren't many shows that can be dramatic and funny and that's what I like most about Joss' stuff.
I agree. I think Spike needs to make a guest appearance. :happytv:

"I have heard a few complaints over the years, but then I just killed whoever spoke up, and that was pretty much that"

I'd LOVE to see Spike show up. :rotfl:

Evil Spike, lovesick Spike ("I may be love's *****, but at least I'm man enough to admit it") and especially Spike with a chip in his head.

SPIKE: Invite me in.

GILES: No. It's fairly unlikely.

SPIKE: Oh, damn it! look, I'm safe. I can't bite anyone. Willow, tell' em what I did.

WILLOW: You said you were gonna kill me, then Buffy.

SPIKE: Yes, bad, but let's skip that part and get to the part where I couldn't bite you.

WILLOW: It's true. He had trouble performing.

SPIKE: Yeah, well, it looks like they've done me for good. Um...

BUFFY: What are you saying?

SPIKE: I'm saying that Spike had a little trip to the vet and now he doesn't chase the other puppies anymore. I can't bite anything. I can't even hit people.

...

Also loved later in the episode where he says they should leave Xander behind because "It looks like he's about to drop and I think I can eat someone if they're already dead." :rotfl:

THAT is the stuff I want.

I had to miss this one but I'd like to check out the next installment. I adored Angel (and Buffy and Firefly were good too) so I'm ready to see whatever Whedon comes up with.

As for Spike, where has that actor been? I miss him. I did at least see the guy that played Giles on the BBC in an English comedy the other day. (I'm lousy with names, does it show? ;) )

James Marsters played Spike. I don't know what he's done since, but he did an amazing job as Spike. He was hilarious.

Anthony Head was Giles. No idea what he's done since, either.

Since Angel, James Marsters has done episodes of Smallville and Without a Trace. But, his hair is buzzed short and brown. And he doesn't have to fake the accent anymore.

And Anthony Head, according to imdb, played a "Man in street" in "Sweeney Todd". I haven't seen it yet.

I understand that Anthony Head (thanks!) wanted to act in England again and that's why we've seen so little of him since then. I don't get seeing so little of James Marsters (thanks again ;) ). I agree that he was excellent.

Spike also had a smallish role in PS. I Love You as Gerard Butler's best friend.

He was also on Torchwood as captain John Hart complete with accent.

I finally caught the premiere last night. Gosh, that was loads better than so many critics warned us it would be. What is their problem?

I enjoyed it and will definitely watch again but it certainly didn't rank higher than a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10 for me.
I am usually extremely critical of pilots though, as I do think that is where they should get you hook, line and sinker, so to speak.
I thought Eliza went pretty seamlessly from personality to personality, and I liked that quite a bit (I really loved My Own Worst Enemy :( ). I also think her handler is going to be a particularly interesting character once they get going with this. However, I was seriously underimpressed with the British actress playing the head of the Dollhouse (can't even remember the name of her character, she basically left no impression on me whatsoever) ~ I really hope she breaks out of that monotonous zone she seems to be in.

At any rate, I hope they keep it around for a bit ~ I am really weary of investing my time in these new shows only to have them yanked away without a fighting chance. :sad2:

Oh, I forgot. Did you all notice who else was in the cast??? Fred Burkle(Amy Acker) from Angel. I missed the first couple minutes of Dollhouse. So, I'm don't know much about her character. But she appears to be a doctor on the show.

I didn't like the bit at the end with Amy Acker and Eliza Dushku in an ad for the show, being all seductive and crap. Not a lesbian, so obviously not turned on, but am wondering in what universe this makes a guy watch a show.

Give me a big, fat break.

There are currently no plans for reruns.

But you CAN watch it on fox.com if you missed it...I just watched it and I thought it was pretty good.I did notice that the girl she plays moves and talks a lot like Faith on buffy....not a big change from that role but good anyway.

Correct me if I just mixed people up but I'm sure someone from BSG is part of the cast?

I watched it, it's alright. I'm going to give it a chance and watch the rest of the season. Hopefully when it gets going it will be better.

Helo from BSG is in Dollhouse. He plays a cop trying to find out info about the Dollhouse.

I wasn't crazy about the show. I was definitely expecting funnier. I think it's part of the problem of having characters with no personality of their own. If they don't have personalities, how can they be funny or interesting?

Plus, the whole show premise just seemed like a mash up of a bunch of other shows that have already been done. Also, I felt like the part had really been written with Summer Glau in mind. Every time Echo had her personality stripped, she was walking around with the same sort of look that River had in Firefly. Summer could pull it off though as looking childlike and broken, but when Eliza was doing it, to me she just looked brainless and dull.

I'm gonna give it a few more episodes though too and see how it goes. I'd love to see it improve :)
