I am going to buy some travellers cheques this weekend, any idea who has the best rate at the present.
Tried Thomas Cook, Lunn Poly but the rate has gone down to 1.59
I beleive you need a M & S charge card to buy from them????

I've used M&S before. You only needed a charge card if you purchased on line, but could pay cash if you bought it in store. This could have changed though. I've been using the post office to buy currency as they I got about 2c/£ more than my neice did from Thomas Cook

I've bought all my t-cheques from M&S and anyone can buy from them.
We just walked in with a switch card and got £1500 worth commission free.
If you use a credit card, there are charges - about 2% I think.

Post Office is selling @ $1.6094 & if you bank with Lloyds you can get TC for $1.61 there at the moment

I would definitely buy from M&S or the Post Office. They both usually have better rates than the travel agents. I've also noticed that rates appear to be better on a Friday.

We got ours last week from Travelcare at $1.61 and they do AMEX Travellers Cheques.

Just bought ours yesterday at M&S (Mancherster branch) and got $1.617. Didn't have a charge card, just used switch, as there were signs saying some credit cards would incurr a charge (I suppose it's like a cash advance).
Also, it's nice not having to order it like you do at banks, best rate aswell, as far as I can tell!
The holiday always seems that bit nearer when you've got your money!
