Dollar/Thrifty

I can use what Marriott Reward Points I have and pay $217.88 for a mini van for 9 days with unlimited miles. (Book through Marriott Rewards website) Does that seem like a good deal? I've only rented from Alamo before and am a bit worried about using Dollar or Thrifty. I do understand that there is a fee for an additional driver. I didn't drive last time so I don't think that is a big deal. Thoughts?

Well, I decided to go with it. It ends up being $24.00 a day for a mini van. That sounds like a good deal. And I need the space with three kids. I signed up last night for Dollar Express. I am hoping once I get my Dollar Express number I can call Dollar and have them attach my reservation that I have booked with Marriott Rewards car rental to the Dollar Car Rental.

Call their phone number they should be able to do that for you.

I typically try to find the lowest price etc. with Dollar and *then* add on the DE number at the end or call and add it after completing the resv. I've found that the prices sometimes still come in higher even with the same coupon codes etc. when the website knows at the outset of the search that I'm a DE member.

Thanks! I am wondering if it will even matter if the price drops on the rental because I used my Marriott Rewards points towards the car rental. I am also paid in full on the car rental as well. I noticed it was posted on my credit card last night and says paid in full on my receipt.

I wasn't aware that I could book a rental car using my Marriott Rewards either. I went to the Marriott Rewards home page. Clicked on Marriott Rewards Air + Car on the bottom right. You can search on the next page by Air or Car.
