Hey everyone...

I was wondering if anyone had ever used Dollar; if so, how'd that go? I previously posted someting about L&M but I had an iffy feeling about them and decided to follow my instincts. I found a pretty good deal for an Intrepid for a week at $229 (after taxes). I haven't rented a car for quite some time at MCO so I was wondering if the lines are pretty bad? I read about Alamo and didn't know if that was pretty standard? I would GREATLY appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Thanks:wave:

We have been renting from Dollar for 8 years and had a smelly car once and they gave us a new one. They also tried charging extra for the extended mini van one year but I complained when we got home and was reimbursed. They always seem to have the best rates and they are in the airport which is a big plus. I recommend them.

You can go to their website and join their preferred customer group (the name escapes my feeble brain at the moment,,,Fastlane maybe??).

That way if the line is long (it doesn't matter what rental agency I use...it is the one with the longest line when I arrive...it is a talent I have...and I always get behind the couple from Tangiers or somewhere, with no reservation, no credit card, don't speak english and have prolonged discussions about which type of car they want!!) you can use their special line and get the next available clerk.

Also when you join they send you a couple of free upgrade coupons, so you can book a compact and get a midsize, etc. The coupon works with any special rate you find so it helps.

We have used all of the in airport agencies at MCO except L&M...heard too many bad stories to try them. Dollar has been fine for us...not perfect, but fine. Next to National they are my favorite.

I have used Dollar, Budget, Alamo, and L&M for my Disney rentals. I have been satisfied with all of them. Note, very convenient to use the rentals located at ther terminal. L&M has very good rates....don't be afraid to use them. Also try to upgrade at the desk, all of the agencies appear willing to negotiate. Last January, Budget moved me from a Compact ($95) to a Mustang Convertible for only $45 more. Don't be afraid to ask! Have a great trip! Goi to the Orlando International Airport web site for a listing of car rental agencies and their locations.

Dollar probably gets the majority of our MCO business, followed by Budget. Depends one which gives the better deal.

Dollar charges and additional $5.00 per day, for an additional driver, even if it's your spouse and even if you're a member of Fastlane.....

I was completely satisfied with Dollar on our last trip down to MCO. Rented a Dodge Grand Caravan, no extra charges, and the van was very clean.

They don't if you are a member of their "Silver Dollar" Club. That's for the over 50 crowd though, so not all would qualify, LOL!

Thanks GeminiMom, It worked perfectly!! Joan

That's what we would be interested in a minivan, do you remember the rate? Do you know if we can get upgraded to a minivan? First time renting and I don't have a clue of what to do. TIA!

No problem getting upgraded, if you want to pay for it. It is rare to be upgraded to a mini van or convertable.
