Dollar Rental - In Terminal??

I am a little confused. I chose Dollar because I understood they were located in MCO with no need to take a shuttle. After reading some of the threads here I see shuttle to garage mentioned.....do I have to hop a shuttle to pick up my car? How does this work. TIA for any replies.

No, Dollar is one of the on-airport companies.

The on-airport companies all have counters in the MCO terminal on Level 1. Their cars are all located in the two parking garages next to the terminal, which you get to by crossing a street on foot. There is no "shuttle to the garage" involved, although there is a monorail from the 4 airside terminal buildings - where all the gates are - to the landside building - where baggage claim and ground transportation are.

On a side note (sorry to thread hijack), do you get to choose any car from the rented class like you do with Alamo, and would this apply for sanford as well?

I don't think so. I've used Dollar in 2000 and 2004 and each time they just gave us a car. Both times the car was very nice and I was happy with it.

In 2000 Dollar was offsite...and we took a shuttle, but in 2004 it was in the airport. It wasn't busy when I went and so the guy that checked us in walked me to my car and carried the rented car seat (it was me and my 18 month old DS alone with two suitcases and a stroller). It was a full-size, Ford Tauras...very nice.
