I can't find any info on Dollar's website as to how much a carseat costs... I was expecting it to give me the option to add it when I booked (like on National's webite)... but no luck?

You didn't miss it. It's not something you can add in via the website. If you check their General Policies (Letter O. Optional Equipment), it says you have to call the specific location to inquire about car seat rates.

I have yet to hear about a good experience renting a car seat from a car rental company. I would bring your child's car seat from home. If you can't use it on the airplane (much safer) then gate check it w/ your stroller.. that way the seat will have a better chance of getting there (rather than being lost in the regular luggage) and not being damaged.

HTH!

Well, here's one. I realized when we got to Nashville I had completely blanked on bringing DS's booster. He's 5, and legally doesn't need one where we spend most of our time, in Florida and Michigan, even though I have him ride in one 99 percent of the time. In Tennesse, though, the law is 6 or 8, though, so we needed one.

We got a last minute one from Avis, and it was great! It lookd brand new. I believe it was $10 a day, or $50 a week.

You should think about bringing your car seat from home. The worst time to be learning how to correctly use and install a car seat is at the start of your vacation. You also don't know the history of the car seat either.

I would trust a rented booster over a rented harnessed seat. You never know what you're going to get and how clean they are etc. I've known at least 2 people who have had to go get new seats when they got to their destination b/c they seats they got were so nasty and expired they couldn't be used. One mom didn't even get any seats b/c they were out when she had gotten there (most places won't guarentee you a rental). I would definitely take your own.
