We'll be staying at The Polynesian and then we will be picking up a car at Dollar which I believe is at The Grovesnor(SP?) Hotel. Do they have a shuttle service or should I take bus transportation to Downtown Disney or just take a cab to the hotel?

I don't have any actual experience with that Dollar location, but most car rental agencies will send a courtesy car to pick you up at your hotel. Get the phone number for the rental location and call them. If they won't, the bus to DTD is an easy way to get there since the Grosevenor is just a short walk away.

We have reservations at that resort also. I actually have the number your seeking. Dial it and there is a prompt to schedule a courtesy pickup for car rentals.

I used the Dollar shuttle to pick me up from ASMo just yesterday morning. I called the same number posted by FigmentGuy after waiting 15 minutes past my scheduled pick-up time and the dispatcher promptly called the driver to see what was happening. I could hear their conversation in the background--the driver hadn't forgotten me, he was just running late. The shuttle ended up being 30 minutes late. There was a huge list of pickups as this was the first weekend of Presidents Week and they weren't quite prepared for the demand. If you're not going during a peak weekend, you should be okay. But keep the number handy when you're waiting, just in case you need to call and remind them that you're still there.

Also, if you arrive at the Grovesnor Resort around Noon, there's a chance the Dollar desk agent may be out at lunch--there's a sign on the counter to indicate when they'll come back. We ended up waiting another 20 minutes until he returned. He processed me fairly quickly though and I used the time to grab a coffee and find an electric outlet to charge my cellphone.

Armadillo4 -What type of car did you rent? Overall were you pleased everything. Customer service, car quality, helpfulness, convenience, etc (given you were there during a busy time) Our reservations are for november, so I dont think we will encounter the same problems you did. But just curious about how you rate it otherwise.

You can certainly schedule a pickup, but it is probably more convenient to use the Disney bus to Downtown Disney Marketplace. The Grosvenor is literally right across the street.

FigmentGuy - I was generally pleased with Dollar, with the exception of the late shuttle pickup. The driver was genial enough, but didn't apologize for running late. He didn't apologize to the next pickup either, who was waiting even longer than a 1/2 hour. However, the counter agent inside the Grosvenor was really helpful. We reserved an intermediate and were given a Dodge Avenger with only 204 miles on it. It was a pretty good ride.

I do wish I thought about the Bus transportation to DTD, but didn't expect to be waiting a 1/2 hour. We also had some bags with us, which may have made crossing the street to the Grosvenor a bit awkward, but it would have been doable.

I have a question. I am renting with Dollar but would like to turn my car in a day early and take ME home. I am staying at the Carribean Beach, if I call Dollar, will they pick up my car?

I don't think so. You're probably going to need to drive it to the Grosvenor Hotel, and either take their shuttle or the Downtown Disney bus to get back.
