Dollar Rent a Car-Express program questions

Hi,
Dollar Rent a Car has a good rate for our upcoming vacation. I'm tempted to joint their Dollar Express program that promises shorter waits in line, etc. However, they want you credit card # as part of joining this free service. I feel a bit uncomfortable with this. Is this standard procedure for joining a rental car service's membership program? For those who have rented from Dollar before, are the lines long to begin with? Does anyone here belong to Dollar Express?

Yes that is standard
I am a dollar and *********** member and DH is a national emerald club member
I like Alamos program and have never had an issue also when I rent from them they charge my card what the cost is, so if I owe them 38 bucks thats what they charge my card. Dollar charge 250 no matter what and I hate that.
Then I have to follow up and make sure I get my $ back

I'm a long time Dollar Express member. Great program, makes it easy to set up a reservation, skip-the-line service at some airports (not MCO though) and short fast lines at others, nobody trying to upsell you or get you to take insurance, etc.

Yes, they keep your credit card on file. It's standard practice for this sort of program.

They won't charge you for your rental until you pick it up. Like most rental companies' programs they keep your card information on record along with dirver's license number in order to expedite the rental and move you along more quickly.

I have been an express member for over 5 years. Giving your credit card only allows they to preparing my rental agreements in advance, and I get on my way quickly (no matter how long the line is I am NEXT.
In this day and age with Identity theft I always keep my credit cards close, but Dollar Rent A Car has been around for over 30 years and is a public company (traded on the NY stock exchange under symbol DTG). I have no issue with reputable companies. Also I do rent about 10 days a month and they just changed the rewards program and now I receive a free day every time I reach 16 days of rental. Simple on my next vacation I will have a FREE rental car.

When I landed in Atlanta the agent at the counter could only tell me the card type, and the last 4 numbers. They didn't even know my card number.
