I just checked the rates for the same car,times...
and the rates were up over $100
That is just insane
I was just checking because of how many times they discount them and I couldnt believe it
Now I'm reading where people say it's not much different to pay for the full tank of gas on return. What have you done??
Thanks and have a disney nite
It's raining here:umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella:

I always fill the tank myself before returning the rental.

Dollar just dropped a bit for us so I made a reservation and I'm going to keep looking. Hopefully over the next month and a half I'll be seeing more competitive rates (although I'm pretty happy with this $131 total, after taxes and fees, for an intermediate for a week)

As far as the gas thing goes, I think it only breaks about even if you bring the car back on empty (or close to it) From what I understand most rental places charge you the going rate for a full tank, not what it takes to fill the tank. Something to think about - maybe someone that's done it can confirm or deny that as well.

After reading lots of other threads, seems the car shortage in MCO is extensive. No rental cars to be found. Supposedly by increasing their rates, it will discourage others from reserving. I have 2 rentals on hold for my trip this week. One with national and one with dollar. I had plan to cancel one this week, but with the scarey threads about people being told to "go away" there are no cars for you, even though you have a confirmation in hand, I plan to hold on to both reservations in hopes of getting at least one car. I have rented hundreds of times from MCO and this current situation is upsetting and surprising that these companies don't take matters in hand and get other states to hire temporary workers to drive these cars "home". JMHO!

I have a reservation with National for Dec 4 to 10, emerald aisle, $142. After reading about the problems, I just went into Dollar and got an intermediate reservation with the MAG code for $140 as a backup.

Debbieb, If you have two reservations, when do you cancel one, or do they cancel themselves if you don't show.

Here's another question...
I'm currently holding ressies w/3 companies (Alamo, Dollar and Budget). I was originally going to cancel the other 2 when I decided who I was going with but all this talk of car shortages makes me nervous. However, I thought I read somewhere that the rental car companies can charge you if you simply don't show up to pick up a car...now I don't think with Alamo it will be an issue since they just have my name and email address but as a Fastbreak member of Budget, they now have my credit card info so could this really happen?

Dollar and National do not require a CC to hold a reservation (unless you're EA). So technically how can they charge you. I've tried to check the fine print to see. I do know that there is a no show cancellation fee for a minivan if you use your CC to hold a ressie.
