dollar rate

TTT Moneycorp website is quoting $1.56/£ selling rate and $1.62/£ buying rate.

Shame they don't do mail order :(

i've just phoned the 24hrs branch and they tell me they do not mail order t/chqs

Thats really weird Neil.
I got mine 2 weeks ago no problem. They don't accept c.cs, I had to send a cheque.
The day that I ordered them, they held the rate for me, and said that as soon as my cheque had cleared, they would be sent recorded delivery.

is it better to get $20 or $50 cheques?

Either . . . . the ones that they retailers don't particularly like for smaller purchases are the $100.

We get a mixture of both these denominations both in $ and $TCs:D

:D Yep indeedy. And remember you get "real" $ change when handing over TCs. We always find this really useful, or rather DD does, cos she thinks that's her spending money for the day then:D

Neil - just seen you're down to 15 days countdown:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Not long now, then :p :p

yeah i know, 2 weeks today we leave for gatwick

i'm so excited :bounce:

but stressed too - i've organised everything for 10 adults and a baby and i keep having dreams about things going wrong...

last night's dream was we all arrived in orlando and instead of 3 cars we had motorbikes and somehow we managed to find our villa but when we got there it was a bedsit

neil
:)

LOL Neil I think you should takemore water with it !!

Seriously 10 adults and a baby I'd be having nightmares too!

well it all started off last august with just myself and my girlfriend going and it grew from there !

LOL Neil!!!! I just had a vision of the baby revving up the motorbike! ;)

Gosh, that must have taken some planning! Bet you're still really excited though! Did you manage to get seats together on the 'plane or will you have to wait until checkin? Hope everything goes smoothly for you! :D

i've had many more dream disasters too !!!

it's taken so much planning you wouldn't believe and it's worse in that there's my ma/pa, my girlfriend's ma/pa, her bro/fiance/baby and her ma's cousin/hubby

phew

we did have seats all together near the skycot but when i called them to confirm virgin changed the plane config so all pre-booked seats were wiped and they started again....

so we have just 1 seat with the skycot and the remainder will have to be allocated on checkin - virgin group sales tell me that've put in a seating request and they normally get allocated first before other passenger's seat requests

we've now decided to use twilight checkin so that we can get our seats allocated sooner and hopefully we'll get seated near each other

the mother of the baby isn't too impressed that she may have to fly to orlando looking after the baby on her own because virgin cannot allocate 2 seats on the bulkhead for only 1 skycot

got my t/chqs from post office yesterday at $1.51

bit confused though as i told the lady i wanted both my girlfriend and me to be able to cash them whilst on holiday.....

she put sharon's name on as a 2nd user but then the lady said we only had to sign half the chqs each, ie. not one chq has both our signatures.....

i thought the idea was we both had to sign so that when in orlando we went to cash a chq we signed the chq again and the signature was compared

i'm pretty sure the lady at the post office has cocked up

You should sign the travellers cheques once, as soon as possible. The cheque should then be signed in front of whoever is cashing it for you - when you actually come to use it.

I thought only 1 person could sign a cheque. Ie, your gf signs half of the cheques and you sign the other half. You cannot both sign each individual cheque.

Give American Express a call if you want to make certain, their number is with the accompanying leaflet.

neilybealy - there are double signature TCs available, but they have always had a higher rate of commission when I enquired about them and I've never had them.

If you received double signature TCs from the Post Office you should both have signed them all - one signature in each space provided. You can't both sign the 'ordinary' TCs as there's only a designated space for one signature. When spending the double sig ones it's an either/or signature required for checking.

It sounds as though the PO lady has given you ordinary TCs and split them between you and your girlfriend for spending ;)

It's probably best to check just to put your mind at rest before you need to use them.
