Hi there,

I need some opinions.... we've used Dollar for probably the past 15 years but understand that Thrifty and Dollar are now basically one company.

Years ago we had a bad experience with Thrifty and this put us off using them again ...I've been quoted by Dollar £450 and by Thrifty £294 for exact same vehicle - which one do i go for... I want the Thrifty price but is it a risk worth taking??

what you think oh wise travellers???:confused3

Dollar and Thrifty have long (early 90s, I think) been the business/leisure brand "twins" of DTG (Dollar Thrifty Group).

I'd suggest that you go for the better price as both subsidiaries have undergone what I would term as positive changes over the past few years.

I also think that you should consider joining the preferred renter program - for Dollar it's called Dollar Express, for Thrifty it's Blue Chip - for whichever company that you use as it will make the pick-up process much quicker and easier (when you sign up you give them your preferences and information that they'd take from you at the rental counter which should eliminate up-selling at pick-up time and speed you on your way).
