Hi!
We usually book Alamo. On this trip, we're flying into and out of TPA and Alamo is not on site, so we're going with Dollar. I have what I guess is a good rate of $401 for a minivan for 8 days but I'd, of course, like to get it cheaper if possible. Thank-you!!!

I just did Dollar from MCO, and by FAR the best rate I got from them was by using their own "city special" --- simply request the time and location of your rental, and hopefully there will be a "City Specials" box somewhere below Compact, above MidSized.... click that, and it will show you their "best price".

When I rented, that price beat every code I could find, and I checked it frecuently, and found that it hit rock bottom about 10 days before our trip, and I was able to rebook and save about $10 more.... not much, but it helps!

Thanks to this post I went to car rental savings and used the corporate code to get a $131 weekly rate for an economy car from Dollar but when the extra days (4), the taxes and fees were added the total ended up being $322.85. It's been a few years since we last used a rental car but I don't remember the airport fee, concession fee, taxes, etc. being so high. If anyone has an idea  on how I can lower my total cost please let me know. I've tried different agencies, coupon codes, etc. but this is the cheapest rate I've found. Thanks!

I went to Mousesavers and tried the various codes. We will take the ME and not rent a car at the airport. We are renting from Dollar. The location is right across the street from Downtown Disney. They will pick you up. Try both renting at the airport or off site. It was cheaper not renting a car at MCO.

bah- that site had the best rates I have found yet! too bad its with Alamo that does not give you the free extra driver. Bummer

Linda - what Corp Code did you use for the 131 weekly rate? I'd love to find that. Thanks for any info.

If it's still there, why not price the rates @ the offsite Dollar location usually less $s. a couple of years ago we returned a rental car there by mistake:guilty:they said it happens all the time. The location was directly across the street from the airport & took less than 5 minutes to get to airline checkin desk. TPA is such an small airport, easy to navigate:thumbsup2.

Likewise, the 'offsite' Alamo location is in the same general vicinity the last i checked.

I wish we could do this! Originally, we were flying to MCO. However, I let my daughter invite 3 friends and there were no flights left to accommodate our group of 7, so we're flying to Tampa instead.

I did and Alamo was $249 more. Thanks for the suggestion though.
