Just an extra piece of information that we have discovered after talking with our insurance company.
They, and our credit card company both told us that we were covered while using a rental car, HOWEVER they warned us that rental car companies are now charging people for the number of down days that the car is in the shop getting repaired. They are also charging people for "depreciated" value charges, since when the rental car is sold, carfax will show that it was involved in an accident. Our ( and most, if not all) insurance policies do not cover the down time, or depreciated value of a rental car...so you might want to keep this in mind when considering extra coverage?
