Hi, we have a car reserved through Dollar at MCO. I did the Early Check-In, is there anything else I need to do ahead of time? Will I have to go to the counter and wait in line or is there a faster way to do it?

Thanks!

The person who reserved the car (driver) should sign up for Dollar Express ahead of time. You can add it right into your reservation. A Dollar Express member can...at least at MCO... go right to the garage and up to the single counter next to the cars. The first time they will probably need to see the credit card used for the rental. There is rarely a wait for this. On subsequent trips you should be able to walk directly to your vehicle.

Ditto this. We're Express members as well as members of Alamo and many other rental companies, they all have their own name for their program, haven't stood in line for a car in over 15 years.

I used Dollar last summer, it was my first time renting a car...I was the only adult with my two children and I was a little nervous. I don't remember doing early check in but I definitely did the Dollar Express ahead of time. You have to do this a week or so, at least, ahead of time if I remember correctly because it took a bit of time for it to process. We got our bags and walked out to the garage. We looked at the light up sign, found our name and instead of a car it said see attendant. I was a little bummed at first about that because I really just wanted to get in a car and go but I went to the booth, the employee handed me a packet of paperwork then whispered if you don't see anything in the class you reserved feel free to go to the next class. We were perfectly happy with one in the class we reserved so we loaded up, headed for the exit and were on our way within 5 minutes. Super easy, super painless and I worried a ton for nothing!

Great, thank you so much for the replies! Our flight gets in pretty late and after working/school all day, I know we will be crabby and want to get out of there quickly!

Piggyback question - is it easy enough to use my own Sunpass transponder and opt out of Dollar's platepass setup? Other threads have described Dollar's approach to tolls as the most egregious of the rental agencies.

I'm interested as well. I've heard the same thing about Thrifty. Are there any problems using a Sunpass with these two companies? We've been waiting for the ability to use EZ Pass in Florida but, we don't see that happening anytime soon.

I had no problems using my portable Sunpass transponder in Dec. 2016 when I rented from Dollar. When I got to my car, I logged into the account, added the car to my account (and license tag) and was on my way.

I double checked my account the next day to make sure it was setup properly and the charges went through so I knew it was good to go.

I didn't drive through many toll roads so really I just could've gone the cash route that trip since the roads I drove on did have the cash option.
