Dollar Car, Premium vs Luxury

I found a good price with Dollar, premium car or luxury car for $50/week more. The premium is a Chrysler Pacifica or similar, while the luxury is a Chrysler 300 Touring or similar. What do they consider the 'similar' for each car class?

Thank you!

Yes, I'm curious also. We are renting a premium for our stay. The reason I went with a premium is that it seats up to 5 adults. We have 5 adults on this trip. So it was the pacifica or a minivan. I was able to get the premium/pacifica at a cheaper rate. So I'm curious w/the OP as to what are the "other similar cars?".

I think they moved the Dodge Magnum into one of those classes. When they put the Charger into the Full size class.

I'm not really sure but I think that is what they stated when I was down in DEc to do a rental.

Well then, the Magnum would be a premium? I can't see them calling that a luxury, especially when the other companies use Cadillacs and Lincolns as luxury cars. Is the Chrysler 300 really even a luxury car? I remember Dollar used to have it listed under premium.

Oye, my bf would hate us having a magnum. He thinks they are the ugliest cars ever. LOL We'll I guess we will wait and see when we check in. I just want all 5 of us adults to fit into the vehicle like I reserved.

If they were to give me something that can't seat 5 adults, is there something I can do? Anyone have any experience with this?

Anyone actually rent from the Dollar location at MCO airport?

I'm thinking the Dodge Charger and Magnum should both be in the full-size class, anyone confirm what they're doing?

I agree. I have figured if they cant provide me w/a premium (pacifica or magnum) and try and give me a charger I will be angry. I just priced a charger with my coupon code for the same dates and its a $43 difference. So I would take the charger if they knock off that $43. :cool1:

So far we have always lucked out on our rentals and had a bump upgrade to the next car class for free. So I'm not complaining. But I'm sure folks who are unaware of car classes could look at a charger and think 'cool' its about the same size, when you could of initally rented that vehicle for a lower price. An informed consumer is a happy consumer.:hippie:

Heres the deal, and Dollar is known for doing this type of thing. For the most part, a premium is a BASE Chrysler 300 and a luxury is a TOURING Chrysler 300. The biggest difference is the leather on the luxury. I personally wouldn't classify a 300 as a luxury car when Hertz/National/Avis use Cadillac DTS' and Lincolin Town Cars as a luxury. If leather is a necessity, stick with a luxury, but its not worth the $50 for a higher end 300...

If you are declining their insurance and plan on using that feature with your credit card, be sure to check with the credit card company. Some companies exclude luxury cars from the benefit.

How exactly does the CC insurance work? On our personal car insurance policy, we have rental car coverage included.

Anyone have any experiences with Dollar lately that can share what they got?
