The recent price food and beverage price hikes are brutal. Dole Whip at the Disneyland Hotel is now $10.25. It comes in a small, cheap “70th” souvenir cup… but that cup is smaller than the paper cups being previously used, so you’re getting a smaller portion. The cup probably won’t survive a couple handwashes.

They’ve literally doubled the price in the last two years. It’s still half the price at the Polynesian Hotel in WDW.

How recent is this? I don’t recall it being that much in June but we didn’t get the 70th cup either

It was around $7 when we last went mid-July. No souvenir cup, but we asked and it’s $10.25 even when they run out of souvenir cups. Keep in mind they expect a tip, so we’re talking about $13 including tax and tip. We usually stop by monthly, to see the fireworks and enjoy a Dole Whip afterward but we’ll probably skip the dessert going forward.

The 70th cup was in the parks on July 17. There was a long line of people who wanted it. I thought I read that the hotel will give Dole Whip in a regular cup if you don't want a dirty collector's cup.

They will, but it’s still $10.25. The server said the price was the same … even if they didn’t have souvenir cups. I’m not a collector… i don’t want the cups, although we for a couple to give to family since we were paying for them anyway.

The 70th merch that was released on July 17 was not very well managed. The "I was there" teal shirt that they released on July 17 sold out very early in the day. The next day, and later in the week, it was available everywhere. Same with the July 17 "I was there" pins.

For the Dole Whip cups, I think they underestimated how long it takes for a CM to take orders and fill cups. The line was long all day and they probably ended with a lot of left over cups. They released popular sundaes at Tropical Hideaway and there was no longer interest in the small 70th cups. Solution - move them to DLH and jack up the price. :sad2:

This makes a lot of sense. It seems like Halloween couldn’t come soon enough for DL to dump the 70th merch!

DLR is mostly a captive audience. The line for Dole Whip/ other drinks last night was huge - we waited 30 minutes.

Yikes! That seems excessive. I really want to try the peach flavor in the parks but dang, for that price I may reconsider.

Wait- you are expected to tip on your Dole Whip purchase in CA? Like, there is a legit expectation from the CMs you will tip them for serving you a Dole Whip?

From the picture posted by the OP, it looks like they were sitting down at a table outside, probably TS's/Tangaroa Terrace. Tips would be more of a thing in a case like that than from a vendor.

ETA: It's not required and probably a lot of people don't tip for that.

Yoiu purchase the
Yes because it's a bartender and/or server getting it. It's not like the park setting.

Exactly. You purchase the Dole Whip from a walk up window where they are also serving drinks. Often they’ll have one person dedicated to people purchasing Dole Whip only, but the receipt is presented in a folio. Yes, they expect a tip.

Same set-up as the Polynesian but with a folio.

It is only $7.29 in the park with no souvenir cup.
