Dole Whip in Fort Worth

Menchie’s usually has it, but I suppose some locations may not.

Almost every frozen yogurt shop here has it, or had it. The place closest to my house had it, but dropped it. Didn't sell well. No biggie as our tradition at Disneyland has always been to stop at the Dole stand outside the Enchanted Tiki room and get a glass of fresh Dole pineapple juice. Never heard of Dole Whip until I got on these boards, nor even notices if they sold it in DL.

I think it is exciting news. I knew about Menchie's, but I haven't seen one of those near me. (I live in an exurb in Texas)

These days Dole Whip can be found at multiple locations across Disney World, Disneyland, Disney's Aulani resort and Disney Cruise Line. july 21, 2021 USA today

The official recipe is guarded by Disney magic, but Disney Parks shared a copycat recipe fans can make at home.

Like KFC...it is copycat recipe...

You can buy the official Dole soft serve mix online, you just need a machine to make it. There is a Cuisinarte soft-serve ice cream amker that will do it - my friend has it and bought a package of Dole branded pineaple soft serve to go with it.

The official recipe is guarded by Kent Precision Foods, which makes it under license from Dole.

When I was at Magic Mountain, they had a location that served more than just the pineapple version. I had the mango version with frozen blueberries.

The key word is INSPIRED

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' Dole Whip-inspired Frozen Pineapple Treat
Ingredients:

  • 1/2-3/4 cup pineapple juice, divided
  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup dairy-free vanilla ice cream
Instructions:

  1. Place 1/2 cup pineapple juice, frozen pineapple and dairy-free vanilla ice cream in blender, and blend until smooth – do not over blend. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add 2 tablespoons of pineapple juice at a time.
  2. Scoop into bowls and serve immediately. Serves four.

The ingredients aren't that secret. At least not the bulk of the ingredients, which read like a miracle of food additives (think Clark Griswold). The magic is in the unnamed "natural and artificial ingredients. I can't find anything that says that Disney's version is any different than the Dole-licensed stuff from Kent Precision Foods. And Disney's version sold at its parks is the same as the one that's available in the powdered mixture. It's certainly not proprietary to Disney.

I saw the recipe. It's nothing like the real thing. It actually looks rather nasty. They say that it's "inspired" by Dole's version.

......AND they is the Disney Company and the word "inspired" refers back to Disney making the inspiration and and not kent product.... the problem I am having is the Press Release....a Disney press release that states....there are two types of Dole Whip

This is exactly what my firend got and it tastes exactly the same too.

so we are being HOODWINKED by disney then

hoodwinked; past participle: hoodwinked

  1. deceive or trick (someone).
"an attempt to hoodwink the public"

    Similar:
    deceive

    trick
    dupe
    outwit
    fool
    delude

Well, to be fair, you do have to have the machine to make it with, so it's laregely inaccessible to most of the population. I showed my firend the soft-serve ice cream maker I found on Amazon and he ordered it that day!

It doesn't do that. It says that this is something that people can make at home with simple ingredients and preparation. They do in fact call it a "frozen pineapple treat". Disney has very expensive lawyers. They know better than to claim another company's product as something where they can provide their own recipe.

They certainly don't make any claims that the **actual** Dole Soft Serve is something proprietary to Disney.

Those things aren't all that great. It really takes a commercial machine (like Taylor or Stoelting) to do it justice.

Yeah, we had trouble at first because he put the freezing bowl in his back freezer which is always packed with food, so it wasn't getting cold enough. We finally figured that out and got it into a colder freezer and it came out very good! We did have to play with the mixture ratio too becuase the directions are only for a five-gallon bucket. So, it is a bit of a pain and doesn't make very much. Overall it's not the greatest, but it works. It will hit the spot if you are having a Dole Whip craving!

I having problems with the following words in a official release GUARDED (KFC culture on my part?) COPYCAT --- INSPIRED and NATIONAL DOLE WHIP DAY ---- SHARE ----CAN BE FOUND....when obvious in this friendly chat and research the stuff has been out outside of disney for a long time

What official release?

All I can find that matches your claims is a USA Today article. There are several official Disney Parks Blog articles on this, and they’re all carefully written as to make no claims of there being any sort of Disney’s proprietary rights to Dole Soft Serve. Disney doesn’t call it’s recipe a copycat, and obviously it’s not using pineapple juice and a nondairy dessert as a base. They don’t volunteer that it’s not a Disney exclusive nor even a Disney creation, but then again they don’t claim it is.

This must be where you saw those claims. Again, it’s not via an official Disney Parks mouthpiece.

The official recipe is guarded by Disney magic, but Disney Parks shared a copycat recipe fans can make at home.
